A lot of people misunderstand the reason why Roxor got sued in the first place - it involved upgrading cabinets, not just the premise of ITG itself. Just adding, I believe that those in development of ITG had permission to work on the Stepmania source code and use it for their own game. The problem with the lawsuit isn't only the fact that it's a "4-panel dance game" (that apparently Koname had rights to), but the fact that ITG had the upgrade kits where they could install ITG into DDR cabinets. Of course, taking something from DDR was a big no-no

I'm sure the "custom songs" thing was also another big issue in it, but not as much.

In all technicality, there's nothing stopping people from taking SM's source itself and using it like this because the entire project is open source. The biggest offender is the content.

Almost none of those songs are Techno. If you're going to make a shit reskin of a free game and charge for it, at least say electronic. ****ing...half the things people call Techno aren't even techno god damn.
