Re: Simfile Database
Believe it or not, progress is being made slowly on this project. What is working:
File uploads Comments/rating of files Browsing files (by genre or date) Forum What still needs to be done is: Packs File search Administrative tools General site cleanup to make it suitable for public use Are people still interested in seeing this happen? For a while it seemed like people were releasing singles but not so much anymore. I plan to just finish up the site and let others worry about the considerable challenges of hosting and administration.

Re: Simfile Database
Forgot about this. Guess I'll have to look into what has been happening lately.
EDIT: As stated earlier, Red Fraction could have been a potential hosting site for this database if/when it ever gets finished. I'm going to withdraw that suggestion. I'm going to see if the new SMO will host it. That site is the most logical. Last edited by Rebirth0; 10-21-2012 at 02:46 AM.. |

But it depends on what the hosting is like for the site. I'm not sure houkou expected to have something that takes up tons of diskspace and bandwidth so he might not have a huge hosting plan for the website. I'll have to find out some info sometime |

Re: Simfile Database
Houkounchi has been hosting 20+ gb of simfiles for the past 5 years. It is just all in a big list. If there was a developed system that organized this and made it better than I'm sure he would host it.

Re: Simfile Database
That wouldn't be too hard since the SMO HTML and CSS appears to be very simple at the moment (much less complicated than the temporary design I have for the simfile DB). The really challenging part would be seamlessly integrating SMO with the simfile DB, if we wanted to go that route.

Re: Simfile Database
It doesn't necessarily have to be connected. The simfile DB could be its own website such as stepmaniaonline.net/simfiles.
The only way I could think to connect it would be to add tags to the current songID pages and then generate links to their simfileDB pages on your site. |

Re: Simfile Database
Is that even a pack? or just a collection of kil songs?
Feel free to not download anything though. Some people will never be content. Last edited by Izzy; 10-24-2012 at 03:35 PM.. |
