Sm won't recognize MP3
I am making a file, but I cut the mp3, and now I cannot edit the steps. If I play the song, the steps go by with no music. The file has the same name and remains an MP3, what went wrong?

Re: Sm won't recognize MP3
Is your .mp3 Variable Bit Rate? I heard SM5 has trouble with that.

Re: Sm won't recognize MP3
A good way to tell if it's VBR is by looking at the properties of the .mp3 and going to "details" (on Windows). If the bit rate isn't one of these numbers:
32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256 or 320 kbit/s, it is variable bit rate. It might be possible that it is variable if it is one of these numbers, but the chance is a lot less likely.

"This song is missing a music file and cannot be edited"
Double click music file in it's folder and it plays just fine .... |

Re: Sm won't recognize MP3
try reloading songs in the options menu or restarting stepmania. What it could be is that you wrote over the mp3 while stepmania was open so the file is in a different place on the filesystem

This worked, I assumed it was reloading the songs when I restarted the program, but I had to do it through the options menu for it to be fixed, thanks! |
