Also for anyone who is curious of the item build I went:

Merc treads are just the boots I always get. Since I don't jungle nor AD carry anymore (due to morons in bot lane) I have no need to ever get anything else.
Heart Of Gold - GP10 = sex. Randuin was going to be the final item to allow it the most time to grant me gold. I love me some gp10s. I was suggested to get Philo stone and get Reverie as well, but I need to actually do it a few times.
Thornmail: Most of their team was AD and I just rush in and tank a lot when I play Irelia. So it seems kinda common sense to get this. Amumu switched to AP for some reason (Granted it was working.)
Trinity: Move speed, attack speed, AND damage? What isn't to love?!
Maw: Swain and Amumu were raping my face. It gave damage and magic resist and another ability that I am unaware of the precise stats off the top of my head.
Warmogs?: I just like this item, it's been working when I get it since I do a lot of farming so it got stacked quickly. Like I said it's just been working. Why change what is working eh?

u never get thornmail on irel because you want people to pop their CDs and physical skills on u
also u want people to be slowed / ias debuff with warden's mail so you should get warden's after HoG for survival and tankiness
leaving HoG for gp10 effect is stupid after early game

Wit's End
GA

The game should be over by the time you have those 5 items but uh
If enemy is dual AP get a Maw or Aegis, if enemy has lots of AD then Randuin should be enough

Makes enough sense. Though with the way you posted, are you suggesting to "rush" randuins or wait and let the heart of gold tick for a while. Because if I'm not letting it tick for a while It seems somewhat pointless to go that route in the first place.

builds are situational

get HoG if you're winning lane
then get warden's mail later on after trinity force

if you're losing lane a typical build would be tabi/tread + 2 doran + wards/pots

randuins should be finished when laning phase is starting to end and you're tanky enough to go into teamfights




i'll give u a basic irelia vs olaf top scenario

olaf is a lane bully and you have no answer to 200 true damage and irelia's sustain isnt enough


1) olaf wins lane and your jungle doesnt help - tabi + dorans to fight him off and go farm golems
2) olaf overextends (he naturally pushes) and your jungle ganks with you - you're now ahead - tabi (if enemy ad) or tread (if enemy ap) + HoG + phage for dueling purposes then you build into trinity + GA


i usually go Tabi/Tread -> HoG (if leading) or Phage (if I want to kill more) -> finish Trinity -> Rush GA -> naturally tanky enough to fight/farm up for Wit's End and Randuins

4 core items basically (ordered top to bottom in importance)

Tabi / Tread
(Optional: Doran's Blades if you're losing lane)
Trinity Force
Guardian Angel
Wit's End / Randuin's Omen
--- Game should be over by this point ---
Situational Defensive or Bruiser Item (Warmog's, Atmas, Wriggle's for Baron)
Situational Teamfight Defensive Item (Shurelya, Aegis, Frozen Heart, etc)

For the easiest way to win as Irelia.
2 GP10, rush Trinity, Guardian angel (should be roaming by this time)
Making the enemy run in fear.
Guardian Angel early is scary, specially if other lanes are getting out of control (feeding)
It's almost as scary as a roaming Jax! I'm still a bit more afraid of Jax but that's besides the point.

Rest of the items to follow in build Trist has already stated. After the Trinity,GA i go Wit's end then hyper tanky. Meaning Force of Nature and a Randuins.
Don't forget if the game runs really late you can trade out your Wit's End for a Madredz Blood Razor!

p much, you should only go frozen heart tho if their team is reliant on AAs (meaning a fed ADC, Jax, Irelia, Olaf, etc) otherwise randuin's is a must because you're trying to get on a carry and the Randuin proc can keep you on the carry along with your E and Q. plus it gives everything the frozen heart does minus mana and it can be built in more situations than a frozen heart
