Going to my first real metal concert.
Going to see The Devil Wears Prada.
I've been to a couple local shows but this is going to be 1000 times bigger. Anyone been to any of their concerts? Their not even close to my favorite band, since I hate the main singer, but I'm still going, 4 hour drive there and 4 hours back is fun as hell (I love road trips), hotel etc etc.

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
First metal concert for me was Slayer and Arch Enemy. You're doing it wrong, man.
In all seriousness have fun though. Go nuts and punch people during breakdowns haha. |

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
This might sound stupid but consider ear plugs. I always feel like I've lost a little bit of hearing after every loud concert and my ears ring for days.

I also look like a vagina with my helmet while snowboarding but I probably won't ever be walking around with brain damage or a hearing aid.

you don't have to even really like the band to have a fun time at a show as long as the crowd is getting into it.

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
the biggest I went to was A Day To Remember, Sky Eats Airplane, and TDWP. I didn't have hearing for four days no lie. Or a voice even for that matter,

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
I would do anything to see Between the Buried and Me live. I also wanted to go to a Deadmau5 concert with my friend but it's 19+ (alcohol) and we're 18, I'm pissed.
If this goes good, I'll be going to a ton more concerts (All Shall Perish, As I Lay Dying, The Sword, etc) I can't wait.

My biggest one was Uproar Festival in August with Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and Stone Sour (:

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
I work on the friday until 9pm, then gotta be in Toronto for 5pmish (get our hotel etc, eat) So we gotta leave here around 1pm, then concert starts at 6pm, finishes most likely around 9-10(there's more bands) and go to our hotel and pass out. Then I gotta go to work at 3pm on Sunday hahaha, and my friend works at 1pm. We're gonna be tired as hell since we gotta wake up around 8-10am.

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
I wanna buy their albums since my torrents are terrible quality and everything sounds so damn distorted and fuzzy(even though that's sorta their style).
I might even go see the Trans Siberian Orchestra on the 23rd.

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
Is there anything I should avoid? I'm already one to not mosh (my friend will though, he always does, and it's funny because he's a dude that averages 90's in university, is going for his level 10 in piano and is preppy as ****.

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
If you don't want to mosh, then you can stand on the outside and nobody will mess with you. But if you want to get up close to the band you're gonna have to mosh, so be prepared.

Re: Going to my first real metal concert.
Yeah, I usually go there to enjoy the music, so I stand off on the edge of the pit. There's always a few jackasses that like to come flying at random parts of the crowd, but you'll see it coming. Kick them in the chest when they get close.
There's really nothing to avoid. Bring a little extra money if you want merch. Merch is always a lot cheaper at shows. You can usually get a CD/T-shirt combo for $20, which is nice. Also, I had no idea The Sword put out a new album this year. I've been listening to it on myspace for the last twenty minutes, holy ****. SO GOOD. I just two-day shipped the album to myself. Can't wait. |

I lost my hearing at a Prodigy concert once. Also, if you know for sure that there will be a mosh, make sure to bring along shoes you don't care about, haha.
