Re: Best anime movie
I can't personally say I've seen a lot of anime movies, but there's one I enjoyed very thoroughly. Namely a psychological thriller named "Perfect Blue".
In short, it's about a girl called Mima Kirigoe, who very recently moved from the J-pop business to go into acting. This career move is a disappointment for some of her fans, and there's one in particular that appears to be trouble. But this creepy fan is the least of her worries: as she is thrown deeper into increasingly seedier situations in her career, reality becomes less and less sense, including a website that describes her life in very intimate detail, a ghost of her former self, and gruesome murders of people she knows. That shouldn't be too much of a spoiler, but perhaps some can see why I enjoy the plot at the very least. I'd very highly recommend it to a mature audience that doesn't flip out over blood and insanity.

Re: Best anime movie
Seriously son, I wouldn't know what to recommend.
To start it's Princess Mononoke. Secondly, Princess Mononoke was a Hayao Miyazaki film. Thirdly, first anime film that came to mind for me were Hayao Miyazak films like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle as they're phenomenal. If you don't like Mononoke then chances are you might not like his other films. Which is =( Also, there are loads of films. Above mentioned Perfect Blue is awesome, along with a lot of the other Manga works (GitS, Akira, but who hasn't seen these already). So try heading over to Manga's website and watch a bunch of trailers. Look into a film called "Sky Blue" as well. Watched that the other day and thought it was pretty cool. Oh and which Appleseed are you looking at? I never much like the original Appleseed's but the most resent CGI'd version was awesome.

Re: Best anime movie
Appleseed is an ok movie. Two of my favourite anime movies were Tokyo Godfathers and Millenium Actress (both were made by the guy who made Perfect Blue I think). And pleeeease, don't compare Princess Mononoke with Naruto or Drangon Ball =(...

Spirited Away annoyed me. Princess Mononoke is the best anime movie I've seen. But adding onto this is that you're asking for an anime movie with blood, action, and a good story yet disliked Princess Mononoke. Just a bit odd. Having said that, those are pretty much the only anime movies I know about. |

Re: Best anime movie
It's all up to opinion, you have to go with what you like. I liked princess Mononoke and Akira. And I also was a bit fond of one of the Inuyasha movies. But you think of something that should match you more. Cowboy Bebop! Yeah....

Ninja Scroll and Castle of Cagliostro are the two that I watch most often. The Dagger of Kamui is fantastic, but LONG. Dragon Half is hilarious and freakin' ridiculous. Also, there's An Exceptional Episode, on the Irresponsible Captain Tylor OVAs, but that kind of requires having seen the rest of the series, so I wouldn't recommend it. If you've seen Tylor, though, you HAVE to see that movie. Greatest "episode" of any show I've ever seen. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Re: Best anime movie
I can't really think of any anime movies with a lot of blood and action, but there's a really nice OAV series called Karas you might enjoy (just remove the openings/endings and it will be the same as a movie. It will just be a 3 hours long movie ). There's action -frequent action scenes, pretty gruesome ones as well, and on top of that it's beautifully animated-, and I liked the story -if you start watching Karas, just watch it until the end even if it seems nigh-incomprehensible at times, because it's not -.
