Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
let's not worry about PR so we can start making charts like it's 2006 again

I think he means to take PR to a certain extent. Too much PR is like listening to Fission talk a long time. It's just painful.
<3 Love ya Matt Use it with a grain of salt.

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Song name: A Showcage
Artist: t+pazolite vs RoughSketch Style: 4key Length: 2:19 Diffuculty: 70-75 on the ffr scale Notes: I'm probably going to send this into the next batch. First hard file i've made in a while so any feedback is appreciated. http://www.mediafire.com/download/99...sOnlyDanO).zip |

Quote:
9.72: this 4th has the same pitch as the 4th at 9.04, so it should be a right arrow. 48.81: not loud enough to justify a hand imo 75.72: missing note. 82.75: this is unnecessarily hard and is copied at 93.72. as well as the 24 jumps you already said u changed, change this if you haven't. 102.64 - 107.78: again, not loud enough to justify hands. this is also too bland; there is techno which you can step which would make it much better. 138.59: 32nd out of sync. should be earlier. -you have missing notes such as a vocal 16th at 86.78 -you shouldn't step jumps for sounds which are only quiet vocals, such as 86.61, which i would put as a single note, and the jumpjack at 86.87 should only have jumps on the notes where there is a drum noise (idk the names of the different sounds of drum because i suck) and 87.21 should be a hand. -pr needs fixing in lots of places. -i could say more, but i cba. i dont even have a song in game so i guess i have no right to judge other files |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Layering feels very repetetive. [24] jumpjacks are probably the biggest offender here.
25.151s - What is going on here? Feels iffy to me some of the difficulty spikes feel really bad to me most difficult section of the song is not the most intense part of the song which is probably a bit annoying to some, i'm guilty of this in many of my files too though beyond that its just not a very memorable t+pazolite song imo |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Might see if I can change the jumpjacks to [34] instead of [24]. Ill try and fix the layering as well, maybe change some things up. I removed the part at 25.151, there's a 64th roll here but I wanted to just try and layer in some 64ths (don't know why)
Thanks for the feedback. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Other than the weird part at 25.121s,
26.029 - ghost 64th Jumpjacks to voice samples were kinda unjustified imo lol 57.894, 63.379 etc. - 8th jump shouldn't be the same as the 4th jump preceding it, the voice sample on the 4th cuts out there Theres a number of missing 16ths for voice samples later on in the song, and when stepped the jacks can be inconsistent (referring to 76.451 on) 86.865 - wow no lol (btw in any case the last jump shouldn't be the same as the rest) More could have been done during the run-up sections e.g. in ~102s - ~107s, a couple before that Missing jump 128.694 A lot of coypasta, which is specially noticeable because of how one-handed many of the copypasted patterns are, and causes the errors (missing 16ths in particular) to be magnified

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Looks like I should probably start from the beginning and rechart the file, making it easier, getting rid of lots of the copypasted patterns
I think I made it a bit too hard and lots of parts were eh (thanks for the feedback!) |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
make sure to zip folders instead of groups of files. it's kind of annoying to deal with when you don't.
just going to give a list of bullet points since it's easier for me to gather my thoughts into a post that way: - has potential but also has quite a few problems - this file is essentially having an (ph)identity crisis. is it a file meant to be played on spread or index? a lot of the patterning is really rigid either way. - pitch relevancy is lacking where you could use it without making hard or repetitive patterns. for example, the staircase @ 8.24s could be patterned to follow what the synth is doing a lot better. - you switch what sounds you are following too often throughout the file and it doesn't really make much sense - layering needs to be entirely redone. feels like a konami file that layers arbitrarily. pick what constitutes a jump, hand, etc. and stick to it. Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Been messing around with it trying to fix it but it's actually harder hah, ill give another go at the tutorials to see what i can do about the layering. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
I got one finished file and one file in progress I'd like some feedback on.
The finished one: Song: Naughty Oaf's Isle Artist: Shnabubula Style: 8-bit funk or something Difficulty: VC? Dunno, it has some spikes, but overall pretty easy. Specific worry: technically correct, but annoying jacks The one in progress: Song: Song to the Pharaoh Kings Artist: Al Di Meola Style: Metal (?) Difficulty: Again VC I suppose, for the same reason. Specific points: - BPM keeps changing slightly. It's a live recording, plus it is rythmically complex and there are lots of BPM shifts. I'm doubting between keeping the BPM as it is now or using constant BPM sections. - The start is a long guitar solo, which I wrote as a hold-stream. Is this ok or should I use the holds more sparingly? - The 24th/48th part gets boring really quickly. I tried simple layering, but the constant jumps don't seem to offer a lot of memorable playing moments. Any ideas?
