lol whereas kommi might close it on #6, I feel a huge amount of guilt if I do. It forces me to hold it open-- maybe forever.

It's lunchtime and I still haven't done anything crazy nice yet. I might screw up and not do anything DDD:

Hold the door open for the person behind you. Make sure that person is a good 12 steps back from you. Make yourself smile as you watch them hurry to get to the door and then thank you for it.

I do this all the time and its so nice to see them smile and thank you for taking time out of your day to do it. I also feel warm inside when people do it for me.

Just held open the door for someone today at college (I always feel the need to do this) and they seemed rather pleased
That's also a good way to start a conversation with somebody if you or they are interested btw.

Things I didn't do but thought about it and didn't get a chance:

-Made a note in Civics to stuff in a History book. The person in history would see the note and it would say something to make them remember to smile. I couldn't think of anything without it coming off as fake or cheesy and ran out of time

-Had 75c in my pocket and heard that some guy owed someone 60c. I was going to anonymously put the money on that guy's desk but it slipped my mind.

-Buy a cookie for my school's radio team. I discarded the idea because A) the door would be locked, and B) if it wasn't locked chances would be high that someone is in there. I am not supposed to be in there under any circumstances. lmao

Things I DID do:

-Messaged a friend-- she knows which one-- telling her to have a beautiful day
-Held the door open for a bunch of people
-As I was leaving the library I held open the door for a teacher who had no hands free
-Gave people who wanted to hug me a chance even if I didn't necessarily like them. Meh, free girl hugs lol

I probably did other things. But I don't think they are important enough. Even these ones are just small things that I do every day. I want to do something awesome in secret to make someone happy, but I'm having a hard time thinking of stuff. I'll try again tomorrow.

Sums up my day today:

I got a 21/20 on my Astronomy quiz today, teacher allowed me to give the point to the girl sitting to my left who got an 18/20, now 19/20. She seemed pretty happy and thanked me for it. Made me feel pretty good. I've got something planned for later, but it takes timing.

All of those things sound wonderful, and I'm sure you made a difference in a lot of people's days today. Very courageous of you.

I really like this idea, but I'm running into the same problem: unless you reallly know the recipient well, you might end up writing something generic/fake. Still thinking about a good way to implant this one. Maybe we need to work on a how-to manual?

Sure thing! Just added you and Arntonach (sorry I missed you earlier!)

And to all of those brave folk holding doors open for other people: I salute you.

It's just about the same thing as shoving notes into lockers, which I also thought about, but didn't see how it would work out without it taking away from the meaning (mass produced messages -> less effect)

A how-to on writing anonymous messages to random people would be very useful.

Other than that there's not much besides labour that you can do, which is often times more effective than purchases. For example, cleaning a hallway before the janitor gets there is a good idea, but the only problem is getting the brooms

edit: actually with the lockers and notes you could write a bunch of messages and stuff them in every 3-5 lockers. If people share the messages they will most likely get a different message anyway!

I stayed behind at work so the other worker could go home early. Does that count?

Also, can I stop donating? I'm broke and I want to have groceries and paid bills...

If it made him/her and you happy, then yes. And you should definitely take care of yourself if you're donating that much, lol.

Update for me:

I walked into the convenience store near my old middle school and the worker at the counter was complaining about the heat. Paid her 5000won, charged my transportation card (yes, we have these in Seoul) 4000won, used the last of it to buy a bottle of iced tea and left it on the counter.

I'm going to have to think of more ways to make the next few days anonymous, though.

Buses after dropping student off at our highschool have a hard time make a certain left-hand turn and some drivers end up backing up the intersection because they have to take the turn so slowly. Drivers of cars which aren't buses will stop right up on the stop sign and make the turn that much harder for the buses to make. So, today, seeing the buses coming, stopped farther back from the stop sign to help out the bus drivers, much to the dismay of all those behind me. Two rounds of turn-taking at the intersection happened before I was able to go, but it just felt right.

When I got to school, I held the door open for about five people, getting three "thank you"s for my efforts. As I walked down the hallway to my class, I couldn't help but smile and feel good for doing something small to try and help people out. Put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Custom T-shirt I designed in like five minutes. Personalization for active members would be cool, but I'm sure someone could come up with a more generic design to order in bulk.

hmm a shirt would be interesting. I probably wouldn't wear one though. (I'm an extremely picky dresser..)

design needs a bit of tweaking though

ahahaha @ the shirt. if we got enough people on it, it could be fun to have one as kinda a personal object. although depending on whether you're doing things anonymously or not it could ruin the surprise for some people . . .

holding doors really is one of the easiest and nicest things you can do. your story made me smile.

as for me, I missed out on Wednesday because of my midterms, but I found time today to sneak in a support note into my friend's backpack. didn't even know it was me :ninja:

WILL UPDATE TOMORROW! MIDTERMS OVER YEAAAAAA~

Well... I'm really in no position to do it either, to be honest, but I like knowing I made someone's day. Can't do it real often but sometimes I just do it and figure I'll live.

Held some doors today for people, as usual. Picked up some stuff for someone that dropped things.

I haven't had a chance to come up with anything anonymous and really interesting yet, but I'm sure i can come up with something. I did a lot of creative and fun things for my ex, so I know the ideas are there. Just have to put some together.

a lot of the stuff I try to do is just simple things overall everywhere, like holding the door open and picking up trash if I can, etc. Did that in one of my classes today as well, grabbed some trash and threw it away before leaving class.

edit: thoughts?

meh quality, but w/e imgur changed it to a jpg
