Reading sheet isn't as easy to read and does not supply a solid tempo for the player.

And if someone is looking for fun rather than to develop a career as a concert pianist, I don't see why playing this sort of thing would be bad.

It's funny how this thread is being treated as a new discovery. Keyboardmania is oooold stuff.

I failed it when playing at the arcade, despite playing the piano for almost my whole life. I certainly don't agree that playing the piano proficiently will necessarily give you much of an advantage, since you don't normally read musical scores as bars that fall down a screen.

P.S. I think you can find the Keyboardmania games (JPN PS2 I think) as well as the official Keyboardmania controller on play-asia.

I played it once at Arcade Infinity and it was without a doubt the hardest game I have ever played.

Sorry, but I can read graphical images a lot easier than sheet. Don't know what kind of bizarro world you come from where it is easier to read a coded language than look at a graphical picture.

I mean, if the game had like 7 keys like IIDX, I would agree because it simulates it, but not to the degree of realism. Take a look at guitar hero. Obviously you're not playing a real guitar, but it's fun because you don't actually have to practice for years to "play" music, and you can just pick up and play.
Yeah, well, like I said, this thing doesn't even have all the keys that a piano does anyway.

I don't know. It's kinda pushing it. The arcade pads are smaller, so it's not like a full keyboard. So I'm guessing that's like double or something?

I love music games to bits but that's made me on the fence about the whole "Play the instrument" argument.

It's just the fact it seems so close to the Piano. But I really wouldn't know.

Of course, but most people don't have the skill of reading sheet. Personally, I cannot look at sheet and know which key I need to press for each note. But give me a graphical display and I'd understand it completely.

I read the description and came to the lol realization that is only being played with his right hand because the right hand part is only charted. He could add the left hand part though.
