Default The Wizard's Glass

Today in the wonderful world of math, I decided to try and think of a new and innovative idea for TWG. After about twenty minutes of thinking of things, I realized they've already been done, or have already been thought of. Not very innovative, is it?

So I'm looking around, and then I look at my book. The title, "Wizard and Glass". And that's when it all came together.

I think it would be very interesting to input a tangible, movable object in the game.

Ideally, a magic glass that holds seer/psychic powers.

There will be three warlocks(wolves) that can use this glass. They would be able to use it to try and find any blue roles, so it would be crucial that the humans don't let this fall into the wrong hands.

Also, on the flip side(roflcopter), there are three enchanters who are unknown to each other. These are the ONLY humans that can use the glass. If they have it, they choose to either use the psychic or seer powers it holds. The response it gives will be true.

Top this off with a set of masons, 1 or 2 guardians, and it should turn out to be an interesting.

Note: I've come to a conclusion that you must pass the glass every night. And if you're a warlock, and you get a hold of it, you can't pass it to each of your buddy warlocks. 'Twould just be unfair. I was thinking the same for the masons, but I'm not quite sure.

I made this thread for feedback. Comments, concerns, questions, further improvements/refinements, etc. If people like this idea, I will probably be running for host next game.

Ready? Set? Go.

Heres one problem I see with it.

LD starts with the glass thingy, and Seer's Tass, he comes up human.

Next night, LD passes the glass to Tass.

Tass see's whoever he wants.

Tass passes the glass to LD.

If you compensate for that, I fully support the idea.

Make it so it can't be passed back to any of the previous 2-3 people. Simple.

Make is so that, you may chose to keep it, but you can only use it once every three nights?

IDEA!

You can't pass the glass to someone you've seen.

That defeats the purpose of the glass and forces people to work out contrived plans in order to avert seeing people.

Example:

Tass seers me, and then passes the glass to Guido and says "I've seered Chardish, and he's human. You better pass the glass to Chardish next, or you'll be lynched." If Guido is a wolf, this only saves him for one turn (since I'm about to seer him), but if he's not a wolf, he has no reason not to seer Tass, and then pass it to me. As soon as I get it, I seer Guido, and then, confirming that he is human, pass the glass to Tass.

Boom. 3 way alliance. All of us have seered the person we've received it from, not given it to.

Yeah, so random popping up might be the way it would have to go.

Or, you can only have it once, etc.... which would make only the 1st person to get it be questioned. everyone else would be secure.

Is there a way to balance that without making it random each night? I don't think so...

Maybe, but it's got a good idea at the roots of it, so maybe we could come up with something like it that might work better? I really likes the sounds of this whole interactive stuffs.

I don't have any ideas, though, probably because I haven't been in a TWG yet... *cries*

I was just thinking, what if there were a game where there were four wolves, and 16 humans, and none of the wolves knew eachother, and each night they all sent in who they wanted to kill. If the same person was selected to die more often, then they get attacked, otherwise it's a random pick between most popular choices. If a wolf doesn't submit a name to be attacked, then they simply aren't included, the lazy bastards. If this were to happen, then the seer glass would work a bit better. Even without the orb, it's an interesting idea on its own.

Alain, it'd be easier and more fun to have 2 wolf teams that aren't allied. I REALLY hope that the next TWG is a 3-team game, as that would be tons of fun.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.

Thought of something when I was in bed last night.

Everybody has the ability to use the glass. It is randomly passed around, unless you are an enchanter. If you are an enchanter, you get to choose who you give it to, or you can choose to have it randomly sent to somebody.

Does this help at all?
