Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
ok here are my tips:
dont worry about the intro for now, start syncing at the main body of the song. EDIT: Theoretically, the song was written using a steady beat and 4/4 time signature, but because it's live it wont have a steady BPM for simming purposes. Thus, I wouldnt use the basic autofill. The triplets are in the same time signature. Use the wave filter on default (I, Enter) mark each measure (every 4 beats) on beat 1. Make sure those beats are as perfect as you can get. (assist tick=F3) Make those beats white, and perhaps lock them (Ctrl+1, Ctrl+3) Those are your measure markings. select all (ctrl+A), autofill "3" beats in between (autofill advanced option on the bottom of the popup) EDIT: "3" because the time sig here is 4/4 and 4-1=3 check the sync, edit the unlocked beats (turquoise) as necessary. EDIT: You dont need to be exceedingly picky for the turquoise beats, only edit them if they are truly and unacceptably off beat. EDIT: at 2:20 or so, there seems to be some 3/4 but it's still the same baseline steady beat. If you are confused at or around 2:20 let me know.

np,
also, save as a DS file. SM format does not support beat colors so if you save to SM you lose the white beats (and thus your measure markings)

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
This is an awesome program. I prefer this much more than the SM editor, and with the newer releases, I haven't noticed any crashes. I have yet to try the beta version though. I'm going to test it out now. I was thinking that I would make a tutorial on FFR on how to use this before to help spread the word about this. I've just been too lazy to do it, and I haven't stepped anything in a while.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
We do need a decent tutorial...a lot of people have been complaining that the tutorial I made is not that good. And I agree, somewhat
So I'd really appreciate it if you can make a tutorial. (and credit will be given if the tutorial is posted on my main site too).

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
I had a very old version of DDreamstudio (.8x--can't remember), and was finding it pretty useful already. Seeing that it's so far in production, I can't wait to see what you have in this one!

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
.8x - wow, more than a year ago.
The latest version is basically a whole new program compared to .8.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
Thank you! The only problem I had with DDReam Studio before was the random crashing, can't wait to try out this new version.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
Its a nice program that helps many people with syncing, but I think I'll stick to syncing songs with stepmania and my ears.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
Are you planning to implement stepping in reverse scroll anytime?

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
That's cool. Many people still sync songs by ear, but they are very skillful/patient.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
As a player of reverse scroll, it's just... more familiar I guess, should be slightly easier to synch and get a feel for how the patterns I create will turn out.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
hmmm... for now, what you can do is drag the "receptor" arrows down to the bottom of the screen. That way, you can see more of your steps as you are stepping/recording.
EDIT: it's not reverse scroll, but hope that helps...

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
Just added a feature so that the arrows get smaller at the more zoomed out levels, so you can get a birds eye view of the steps, or so you can see more than 1 bar of steps at a time.
Anyone who wants to test this, let me know.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
yes, i'm trying to iron out all the kinks in the program so supporting more game types (pump is #1 on the list) will be supported.

Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles
I could test that new zoomed out feature. It's a cool idea, but I'm not stepping anything now, so I would just use a completed file.
