Toe-only DDR
Virtually all of the major DDR/ITG players try to minimize movement as much as possible between panels. What if you had a DDR that could only be played on your toes? What would the hardest charts be then?

Re: Toe-only DDR
I mean it would still be relatively the same. You could basically use the same comparison of whats harder without the bar.
And if you watch BROSONI play, he plays a lot of harder stuff mostly on his toes. Im pretty sure he plays all of the hard parts of pluto relinquished on his toes.

Re: Toe-only DDR
I don't think it would be the same. The amount of movement required to do this chart would be at least 300% from what it is in that video but probably closer to 500-600%.
It would certainly be interesting, because you'd have more movement per arrow at least. |

Re: Toe-only DDR
Here, next session Ill play, Ill play with this style and tell you what I'm capable of doing. I'll get some footcam videos just to confirm I'm doing what you're asking.
Are you saying be on your toes 100% of the time, and hitting the center of each arrow?

Re: Toe-only DDR
I played with only toes for an unbelievably long time from when I started (as in playing stuff up to Xepher heavy with only toes)

Re: Toe-only DDR
For some reason when I read this thread, I saw it as if you meant literally using your toes on your feet. (As in using your big toe, pinkie toe, whatever)
Now I think I know what this thread is about. It's a "Do no-bar" thread, right? |

Re: Toe-only DDR
this is more about not doing heel-toe or what madmatt does which is essentially vibrating with your legs

If toes only are used and you have to step basically in the center of the panel, footspeed gets downgraded a bit but stamina becomes a much bigger problem. I wouldn't be able to AA Max 300 unless I used toes only, but it drains my stamina incredibly fast. Also for the whole minimize movement thing, there isn't anything wrong with it but what I do have a problem with is that players like Mad Matt don't bother playing anything outside of their own packs. Chino is fully aware of this problem too. I'd also take watching Brosoni's videos over Mad Matt's videos any day. |

Re: Toe-only DDR
So much mad Matt hate? God.
Matt plays other packs all the time. He's posted scores on all of Veyron, and has even stated that he starts most of his sessions with stamina songs, which he doesn't make many of soooo.... I mean sure if you don't like his style of play(trying to push physical limits) that's one thing, but that's definitely no reason to rag on the guy.

Re: Toe-only DDR
Er... Maybe it's just me but, I ALWAYS play with toes... I can't do it with me heels. It doesn't feel natural to me. :\ (That is, until I run out of stamina... Which is very fast.)

Re: Toe-only DDR
Trying to rag on Mad Matt's style of play is futile because any style of play that lets you hit arrows in the most efficient manner will become the dominant style, period. If the style is disliked, that's a fault of the game design and not the player.
I just wish DDR had anticipated this and made the arrows farther apart so that you can't bracket them or even heel-toe. Like, at least 5-8 inches more of distance to move from one arrow to the other. |
