considering indheart has something similar, it's not beyond the scope of the mystery

like yeah I could have mentioned the vote thing in the middle of the night but discussing game state info in the night is a bad idea

then I got my role and kept my mouth shut about it

you don't want to be townread, you want to be middle of the road

I happened to be middle of the road and if I came about about a blue power I received there was a chance

1) people would town read me, or
2) the wolves would think I was lying and had a bigger ability

I'm just explaining why I did what I did

if I claimed a blue role at the start of this day phase I still would have died and nothing different would have happened because I was still unable to explain the red check

I didn't claim until I could explain the red check

I was always going to claim before I died, but it made no sense to claim that early anyway

it just so happened that me being seered red was directly a result of my power.

I'm pissed off because asking for a blue role is going to get me fucking killed and most likely get the game lost

This makes sense in a game with permanent blue roles but not this one. Where you use it and lose it. This only makes sense if you requested a role during like d1 but didn't want to use it until now. Otherwise I don't see the point in not saying you used your power the day after you use it because you no longer have.
