Re: FFR Label Idea
Why not giving the opportunity for people releasing full-length albums? Featuring artists only via compilations is not a good way to "spread his name", hence why some Breakcore artists, Audiotist for example, are not that known because they only appeared in VAs, without having a full-length released. It's a label after all.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just found the big "ARTISTS RELEASED" in OP. Where are my glasses?... Last edited by Shikari; 01-15-2012 at 05:48 PM.. |

Re: FFR Label Idea
If you're planning on using bandcamp, keep in mind the submissions will have to be lossless (i.e. wav, aif or flac).
Also, would I be eligible for this? My old account had over 4000 posts ;> |

Re: FFR Label Idea
If you aren't in this then I don't know who should be. I'd say of course :>

Re: FFR Label Idea
I would never dream of accepting non-lossless files. I will be having whoever is in charge of file submissions at the time check files manually for false lossless as well.

Would be a neat idea. Although a massive undertaking. You're talking about running a full-on business.
With the business plan that you've suggested, it reminds me of how Monstercat works. Look them up.

Re: FFR Label Idea
Indeed. I'm still working on this in the background, along with quite a few other projects.

I'd be ok with contributing, just don't expect anything to be delivered quickly, because I take ****ing forever to make anything. Basically: I'd be aight with releasing some EPs etc.

Re: FFR Label Idea
Feel free to start making music now. Understand that there WILL be a judgement process, so the music will have to be up to a certain standard. Not to deter anyone from submitting, but only get hyped and excited when your song gets placed in the queue.
I'm still working on the writeup and details of this!~ P.S. Old music will be accepted, but don't forget about the format requirements!~

Re: FFR Label Idea
I don't see this happening for these reasons:
1.) The music presented here is just like the music on newgrounds. It doesn't attract a fan base outside of the rhythm game community etc... 2.) Physical releases would be impossible as it would be insanely expensive for no yield. 3.) Bandcamp isn't a way for no-name artists to debut. (most people go netlabel for a bit) 4.) Since it's assumed that the albums won't make much, the artists can't really expect much. In other words, they would be better off distributing their own music. FFR would just slow them down.

Re: FFR Label Idea
This idea is utter garbage. What do you offer artists financially?
I can't think of a single artist that would sign to a label to make no money.

Re: FFR Label Idea
I don't think you could technically "sign" to this label. When you sign to a label, you basically agree to make music and release it exclusively. Then you get into the whole copyright mess. FFR couldn't claim to do that, for one because it would have to go through a good legal shitfest....
In any sense, while it sounds fun on paper, it would fail hard in reality.

Re: FFR Label Idea
I'm unsure if it was made clear, however those who like the idea already know, this would simply be an additional distributor. Any and all tracks would still belong to the original artist, entirely. (Except that FFR gets to use them in the game, no exceptions... which in most cases will be irrelevant seeing as they will probably have given blanket already.)

This aside, it is simply a way for artists to get 'that much' more publicity.

Re: FFR Label Idea
If this label actually comes to fruition, I declare that my "Off The Air (We Want Snow!)" album be the first thing released onto it. No exceptions.

Re: FFR Label Idea
They won't though, that's just it. Outside of the FFR community, these releases would be relatively unknown. If you want to make a label, don't associate it with FFR, but rather branch out and make your own name and go from there.
