Re: Arcade games
Just got back from the trip, and ended up going to an arcade somehow. I didn't even suggest it or anything.

Re: Arcade games
Austin's Guadalupe Street (right next to UT Austin) is one of the few surviving areas of decent arcade activity now. That is also one of the reasons why Austin bears some of the best Street Fighter players in the U.S.
Arcades are dying due to the growth of cybercafes. Little do they know in a lot of games its still more fun to play with strangers at an arcade than 1 or 2 friends on a console. |

Re: Arcade games
I always enjoyed House of the Dead here and there..along with the original time crisis. Fun times..none of the arcades near where I am have them. But they do have Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 which was widely fun, oh I played the heck outta that game.

Re: Arcade games
I really like Time Crisis 2 becuase I can beat it with less than two bucks at my arcade. It's a fun game.
I feel like they made Time Crisis 3 too hard or something; it always takes me way more to beat. :/ Also, I love L.A. Machine Guns. It's hard as hell, though.

Re: Arcade games
SoulCal2 Honestly pwns all other arcade games (Besides Roxor and Konami games.) My Local arcade has SoulCal2 and Tekken5 (<---- Better than Tekken 3 IMO, but I still wish we had a TAG) and they are pretty much always occupied. Conquest mode in SoulCal2 is simply one of the best arcade games/modes ever created.
Also I can't believe you forgot Time Crisis 2, what a great shooter. And Silent Scope. Capcom vs. SNK deserves a mention as well. Everything else is pretty much correct, now every new shooter I play kicks balls except for the training ones. I have never played a good racing game in the arcade, except maybe Hydro Thunder which is extremly old school.

Re: Arcade games
I can't remember the name of it, but my favorite arcade game is a shooter.
You pick the way your character looks (Cowboy, Forest, Urban(?), "Bad Boy") and then a gun (which ranges from pistols to automatics. A personal favorite being the automatic with piercing ability). I'm going to fail at describing this. I'll tell the name next time I see it. |

Re: Arcade games
I used to be decent when they had a Guilty Gear XX machine down in my arcade. One time I won 4 PvP matches in a row. Not bad for a button-masher.
I sucked when they replaced it with an Isuka machine, though...having to manually turn around is a bitch, and I could never learn how to switch between foreground and background. |

Re: Arcade games
The mini-arcade I go to for DDR has a SCII, Tekken 5, a pinball machine, and TCII. "Conquest mode" doesn't work at the SCII one...pity.
I know one guy who's simply amazing at TCII...I've seen him play like 8 or 9 times, and I've never seen him lose a single life. It's insane.

Re: Arcade games
There is this place called WINGZONE that has a Ms. Pacman machine and if you beat the high score you get 15 free wings. I usually stop in once a week and beat it so I get pretty much a free lunch besides the cheese fries and a liter of cola!
