Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
it's still part of the last batch.
EDIT: why do you feel it's necessary to keep asking that question? Just wondering. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
kk.
also, I think files that cause "dropped notes" (aka don't have 2 sec silence) should go conditional queue. EDIT: moved those 3 songs to conditional. Floating Through Time(who_cares973) - Dropped Notes (Insert silence) Over The Ocean (omgitznpv) - Dropped Notes (Insert silence) The Fusion (Patashu) - Dropped Notes (Insert silence) Last edited by jimerax; 12-21-2010 at 05:39 AM.. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
To be honest, I bet a lot of people wouldn't want to bother making syncing fixes if they had the chance, so I'll be willing to add silence/fix sync/whatever. Although I'm in no means obligated to do so.

Yeah if you could do that bmah that'd be great. Since my home internet gome disconnected I haven't found a way to upload things from my phone yet(though I could still download so I'll still be able to judge next batch)

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I like the idea of having one person do all the silence fixing - I doubt every stepfile artist has the tools/knowledge to do this.

It's not exactly a masterful art that takes years of training, you just pop an extra two seconds in with audacity, then fix the offset likewise.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
The point is that many people just don't do it, however easy it seems.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
All right, submitted. I went by your checklist, including the 2-second-silence thing.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I have a question.
If I cut certain parts out of a song to make it less repetitive... (i.e. cut out 2:10 - 2:57) and fade out the end as well, would I also be noted as a music producer? It's fine if I'm not, but I just saw certain people that just made a MIDI file of the same song or slightly altered some of it and were given the music producer title. I want to step Love and Care by Bratkilla. He gave permission, and sent me the song himself over AIM. I wanted to include the normal part, the triplets, and the slowdown without making it too repetitive. I already cut the song, I was just wondering. Thanks

I was just wondering. That's cool if I'm not, I'd still be a simfile artist if it ever got in. Edit: The reason I asked is just because it's a goal of mine to be both a music producer and simfile artist for FFR. I'm sure I'll get it done eventually. I came sorta close to simfile authour with my Phalanx file. Now I made changes and did what the judges said (and fixed stuff they didn't even catch) so it's reeaally good (IMO) now!

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Haha, not at all. Unless the artist requests for his or her song not to be modified, it should be regular practice to cut out repetitive sections of the song (and not simply edit a song by fading out). Many of the songs I've stepped are cut to varying degrees. If you do it seamlessly, it won't be noticeable.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Yeah, the edits I did are about perfect. This song might still be difficult to step, but getting it into FFR would be amazing.
and thanks cbr, my newer stuff is on my soundcloud. Hopefully you find something stepable

But in your case you just editted the music, it's not considered to be arrangement/remix. I automatically do this like everytime I step a song. |
