Re: How are you paying for college?
Paid for my first 2 years of College from Poker winnings. The other 3 years I took out a loan and now I am paying it off. Slowly but it's the best I can do right now >_>
I am currently $13,500 in debt. |

Re: How are you paying for college?
I'm starting my first semester of college in late August.
I'm poor, so I'm pretty much gonna end up getting everything paid for by the FAFSA, and possibly still get money left over from that. At least for the first two years (yay community colleges). When I transfer to a university though, I'll have to take out loans most likely. :/ |

Re: How are you paying for college?
I work 3 jobs right now, finishing up my last year at my university.
- Work as a Media Tutor at my University (For things like Final Cut / All Adobe Software) - Director of a Documentary focused on The Border in Mexico (Going to finish up filming this weekend from a years work! Hype!) - Freelance Work (Weddings / Recitals / Photography / Etc) [[If you count that as a job]] I also have a 50% scholarship, but I go to an expensive school.

Re: How are you paying for college?
Grants and scholarships while working towards my Bachelors degree, as well as a little bit of work-study at the college library during sophomore year. It was mostly out of pocket when going for my Masters, with a little help from VA benefits. I was lucky enough to get out with both my Bachelors and Masters with no debt and a few thousand bucks to my name.

Re: How are you paying for college?
I'm basically 100% on Parent PLUS loans. I'm going to a nice place though, comp sci school with average 1st year hire salary at 64k, so I'm not all too worried about getting the money to pay it off.

Re: How are you paying for college?
Government gives me 450 a month, I give 250 of that to my parents as rent, the college costs about 1050 a year.

Re: How are you paying for college?
My parents told me that if I wanted to continue my education after highschool, I'd be responsible for it, in every way. I agree with that sentiment.
There's student's finance here, which does cover enough to pay for university. However, there are additional costs, especially when you're moved out like me. Thus, I have a (small, but existing) job to get those few extra bits of money together to make sure I don't really have to watch every penny I spend. I think the fact I barely ever drink or go to parties already makes sure I'm not gonna go broke, though. :P If I finish my study in a reasonably set time limit, my student's finance becomes a gift; otherwise, it will be a debt. There are both good and bads sides to the system here. Currently they're trying to screw things over, but I might be just in the lucky year, so to speak. If things come to worst, I'll have to get a proper full job to supply for uni, or even simply take a one year break inbetween my bachelor's and master's degree for a fulltime job. Edit: To add, I'm in my second year of university right now; third year starting in September.

Your master's degree will be around 6000 euros more expensive. However, the loan will be relatively easy to pay off. This is because it has been arranged so that you pay hardly any interest, and that you only make downpayments when you have finished your degree and have a job. |

Re: How are you paying for college?
this thread needs more of this.
it's not worth your money the library is free and i learn more by lending books from there than i ever did in a class room or lecture hall. information that actually pertains to my interests, at that. and is it just me or are the jobs that get laid-off the most are the ones that require degrees? oh. who knows, maybe being in debt is fun? i won't know debt until my parents die and their mortgage payments get transferred to me, but by then i'll probably have saved enough money by NOT going to college to pay it off easily. |

Re: How are you paying for college?
Student loans (OSAP) is paying for the majority of it, plus scholarships for first year at least haha. Cash for the rest I guess... once I get some.
