Re: legacy files to alter!
FFR IS all about having fun, and if playing the songs upsets you, don't play them... yes I know people have goals involving Avg rank, AAAs etc, and that's fine, and I also know that people find bgs distracting (I personally don't aside from ones likes Marisa and Party 4u [neither of which is in Legacy]). I guess qq's solution is the most action I would like to see... maybe even creating each Legacy file as a token/skill token (I know its a bit impractical, but I'm just tossing ideas out).

Re: legacy files to alter!
I suppose moving them to their own section is an okay solution, but if that happens then some other things need mutual changing too. (For example, bumping down Here We Go token requirements to 90% or even 85% rather than 99%, bumping down Quick Draw to 40% or 45%, and so forth)

If we get rid of the Legacy files, then I won't be able to show my mom what video games I was playing in 2004.

These tokens have been around for a while and they're getting easier every month, so why would they change it now? It would just be unfair to those who have already unlocked said tokens. No one cares. Last edited by Mourningfall; 04-16-2013 at 09:09 PM.. |

Re: legacy files to alter!
Definitely support this. That no-background mod exists because the files simply aren't fun to play. Anything that makes reading harder is just a bad gimmick that shouldn't be considered part of a song's difficulty. Even the few intentional exceptions such as Marisa, Wisest, p4u, IMO should be scorable on without their gimmicks.
Moving them to a Legacy level ranks would be nice, but doesn't solve the problem that there are a bunch of songs in the game that just aren't enjoyable at all.

Re: legacy files to alter!
I wasn't taking any chances.

There's still a lot of people who would like the option to play them, could be purely for nostalgia or a challenge or w/e. Probably a bad comparison but back when I used to play Runescape I remember everybody bitching about how much better it could be, then when the newer runescape came out and they closed the classic servers. Everyone whined, bitched and complained they wanted classic back, eventually Fagex gave in and reopened the classic servers. Moral of the story, just because it's outdated doesn't mean we should throw it away (unless it's dairy), just move it elsewhere. Last edited by Mourningfall; 04-16-2013 at 09:38 PM.. Re: legacy files to alter!
Indeed, like 90% of FFR isnt enjoyable and a majority dont even have bg's to ruin them, they are just straight up bad. Lets just take them all out, they are only making the game look bad just as much as the legacy charts.

What? Songs are getting harder and harder with time, and we're getting more and more super-hard files (let's say 90+) much faster than we're getting more easy charts. If you unlocked HWG when it was released you were okay at FCing, but if you unlock it now, you're a fuccen god of it.

They are a challenge. The game is supposed to be a challenge. If you're complaining about what you can to take them out, go be a cry baby bitch elsewhere. People have fought through them, and have them AAA'd. Hell, even I did it, and I'm terrible at this game. Stop being ******s, and just play the damn game.

The only reason to play legacy files is because they're affecting public ranks, lol. Otherwise I wouldn't be wasting time with files like Revo where the file itself is offsync and littered with a bunch of ghost notes and random jumps. |

Ah yeah, legacy in general. I was just thinking synth files. -_- My bad on the AAA'ing part. Either way. Stop being rank whores.

Re: legacy files to alter!
I agree with blindreper, the difficulty of the songs makes them worth keeping. The only suggestion I can make is to color the notes to match the rest of the songs, because blue iz bad.

imo keep the files the way they are. Keeps the historial aspect to this site.
We would use more bacon though. Yeah, more bacon.

Re: legacy files to alter!
I mean sure more experienced players pretty much make up the entire community as for right now, but my thoughts is to take these legacy songs as what they appear to be. Instead of challenging like a song with a lot of NPS it is challenging for a completely different and gay reason. I know this sounds terrible but songs like P4u are hard because of the video or other songs are just hard because they have terrible sync, but it hasn't stopped us from AAAing them. Even though I would have to agree that qqwref's idea sounds pretty smart.
