--- if you could also add an easier chart with toned down stuff and emphasis on vocals & easy 8ths that would be GREAT!

I'll see what I can come up with. I've never stepped super easy songs so i'm not sure how to emphasize the rhythm without using more 16ths. Giving it a try, though. If it's gonna be a really easy one would removing the holds be a good idea? They seem to often confuse beginners.

the song stays constant throughout, so i think it is a bad idea to chart the same sounds with similar patterns for the entire duration of the song
what i think you should do instead, is build up the song and what i mean by that is...
39s ~ 55s: don't step every sound, instead have something like 8ths instead (no 16ths)

At the moment 39-55 is the same as 55-69 but only without the jump at the start of each piece of melody. I'm just a bit afraid it will become actually too easy/boring, at least when we consider the harder part in 74-106. No big objections, though. I'll probably wait what the rest of the judges think.

55s ~ 69s: good layering
72s: missing hold here bro

I mostly stepped holds for the melody and 72 is a drumhit. Though it starts a build up immediately after... I guess I'll settle with a hold as it is the end of that part of the song.

73s ~ 74s: the right hand jack is too much, make this a trill instead

I was wondering between a jack and a trill before submitting. I'll do it.

74s ~ 106s: missing vocal holds here and there, listen more carefully,

It's actually on purpose. If you look closely you will see that the longer vocals are holds and the shorter ones (the ones which last only 1 beat) are not. I originally stepped it as all holds but IMO it became too difficult with the drums also there. I'll play with it a bit and see if I can make it work.

also it is HARD for people to hit notes while holding down a note ON THE SAME HAND. what i mean by this is, if you have a hold on 3 (the up note) while having them hit notes on 4 (the right note), it is EXTREMELY unfriendly and uncomfortable to hit most of the time, change up your patterns to reflect this fact. layering is fine. remember to include vocals - with all these conditions it might be hard to step the file properly but you can still fulfill all of these conditions. the rule to having a hold and a note on the same hand shouldn't apply when it's a jump at the starting position of the hold (ex. you hit a jump 34 and you begin holding 4 but for the next second or two there are no notes on 3)

With all the holds this will limit the pattern choice quite a bit but is probably better for newer players. Avoiding jacks when the hold changes will be difficult though. On the longer holds (those 4 beat long ones) I feel it's better to utilize all the 3 free keys for the rhythm because it will be dull if you just go [hold 3]1212 212121 121[release 3]

106s: cut the song here, that would be better

106-121 is the same as 55-69 (just mirrored). I guess the file could do without it. Although the song is uncut and I would prefer to leave it as the last part makes for a more epic ending. If I can get a comment on this from the other judges it would be easier to decide.
My comments in bold. Thanks for the feedback.

i still think you should step all the vocals if you're going to do it anyways
the rest of the comments you can wait on the other reviewers i guess

I'm actually testing it right now and it seems that you are right. I'll step all the vocals as holds from 74 to 106.

PLEASE remove the hands during the bursty 24th parts, they are too much to handle compared to the rest of the song, jumps i think should be fine though but some parts are heavily loaded before and after the burst so look into removing hands into jumps/maybe even single notes near those parts if there are audible BANGS and BOOMS
remove the mines completely imo (ex. 11s ~ 14s) - during these parts instead, utilize holds imo since you decided to not step the background sounds as rolls but instead 8ths
burst near 106s: i think removing the jump in the middle and making these straight rolls 1234 1234 would be better, friend had an extremely hard time comprehending this part
ending 10 notes: maybe add some holds at the end? idk
see post #139

i.e. Play my other difficulties. Most of the fixes you're suggesting has already been implemented in the standard difficulty (e.g. no hands at 24ths, no mines in cluttered areas). I'd rather not turn the heavy difficulty into what is practically the standard difficulty.

Alternatively, would you care to put Heavy as Oni and shift Standard to Heavy instead? (and shift Light as well...I made three charts for that song)
I think that'd work if you had a more specific target of what a Heavy difficulty should represent. Anything harder could be used as an extra oni or edit chart, rather than being discarded altogether.

I personally think it's fine to have a harder difficulty as long as there are easier ones, and your file complies. I dunno what anaru will decide but i think it's acceptable as it is diff-wise.

I submitted a v2 of For The Win. I cut the song at 106s, added a normal chart and did most of the fixes you suggested. I left 39-55 as it was, a simplified version of that part is in the easier chart but I felt it was too easy for the heavy. I added holds for all the vocals and fixed the patterns to be less awkward to hit.

I already saw it and i think text placement could be better, esp in the bn it doesnt stand out as it should, and in the bg is too massive and again it ends up on dark areas, not standing out much. Font is cool and gfx is perfet for this song, just needs a few touchups. So does the file though, i'll post a review later for both

Took me a while but I think this is quite an improvement over the last version. Submitted another revision of Melody Circus.

It's good for one of the easy charts but if the song has nothing else to offer, thus making it impossible to do anything else with it, i'd say don't do it.

With a good cut it may work, couldn't really picture patterns for this one, but it kinda falls on the repetitive side. Again, a quick and efficient cut may help tremendously.
I would personally cut with a fade out volume effect at 1.37

just bought this game, super stoked

ALSO: file is almost done, just keep drawing blanks for what to do on some parts for lower difficulties. Changing 24th streams to 16th or wtf am I doing. Making difficulties from light->oni for this file.
