According to a statement from The Pirate Bay, "If the new owners will screw around with the site, nobody will keep using it. That's the biggest insurance one can have that the site will be run in the way that we all want to."
This is a good point. Either it will continue as it is, or it will die and that software company will be out of luck.

They're making it a legal site. One no one will use. At least, not 'top 100 on the internet' popular.

What's stopping the original owners of TPB from opening a new site?

It really isn't worth it for them to open a new site anyway. Courts will continue to not realize that they're banning people for running a website where people can post a list of IP addresses.

Just in case you didn't know, that's all a .torrent file is. A list of IP addresses and a hash file. Nowhere on their site is any illegal content stored whatsoever.

What does this mean? These same courts can use these rulings against a site like ours and shut us down too.

Which explains the low amount of KB the torrents have.. But technically aren't torrents illegal (or using a torrent)??

It's just the content that can be illegal.

Downloading a file is not illegal, per say. You have to actually use the file. Otherwise it's just 400 mb of space on your computer. It's just hard to justify you did not use the file at all.

My brother got caught by the MMA for some James Bond movie. They call your Internet provider, and they threaten to sue them and stuff. The internet provider will turn off your internet, but they won't tell you. Once you call, they will tell you to stop downloading or face jail time and thousands of dollars in fines. Then they turn your internet stuff back on. It's very scary stuff because your parents are the ones who's name is what the internet was bought under, and I am pretty sure they would go to jail. Also, you do not know how far they will go with your case.

So we never downloaded again. :/

Who the **** cares about The Pirate Bay. BTJunkie is like the biggest torrent database on the web. It include TPB's database and all of the 8 others big torrent database. Even with TPB gone I think the torrent database will get hosted somewhere else.

The only reason why TPB is so visited is because it is popular. There is so much better out there on the web.

hum... You do know that there is a way for you to make it so your internet provider do not know you're downloading torrents ?

Edit : Yeah the governenement is starting to act really stupid about the internet. It doesn't want us to have any freedom at all. It's clearly obvious that the governement wants to control the internet since it's an incredible place where everyone has infinite possibilities (if your ready to learn about how a computer works ^^)

Dude it's not hard to find, Google can help you find ANYTHING.

But anyways torrents sucked. I'd have to wait till everyone went to bed to DL them. Now I use a different way of getting my music. =)
