Not in the slightest.
In fact, I feel more of the opposite--that it's foolish to bother with index in FFR.

Same here. I don't imagine some of the songs on here are even possible without four fingers!

Re: anyone else feel guilty playing four finger
No. Four-finger/spread does not make me feel guilty at all. It's the player's choice about what style he or she plays with, so there really shouldn't be any debate over advantages and disadvantages.

Debate over advantages/disadvatages is fine IMO, it's debate about which is a more "fair" style or saying that one style is "cheating" that I personally think is idiotic.

Re: anyone else feel guilty playing four finger
It doesn't really matter how you play, if your good with a playing style stick with it and if you feel you've exceeded at it then maybe you can switch to a more advanced style.

Four fingered. Actually, if you think about it, four-fingered play is more stamina draining and cramp inducing then if a person used one finger from both hands.

Re: anyone else feel guilty playing four finger
Its not a unfair advantage. most everyone has the capability to play with four fingers, if you chose to play with two then thats your problem.

Re: anyone else feel guilty playing four finger
Yeah and no trills on index either. Still, Spread is the best style. And i really think that because it seperates your hands so they're not smushed together, and lets you tap the keys harder, i think. I've been four fingered also so i'm not really biased.
EDIT: Not to mention Shash and Baha are perfect examples why spread is best |

Re: anyone else feel guilty playing four finger
i play one hand (i guess that's called index, right?) I've been trying to learn four finger, but i always end up struggling and resorting back to index. I've gotten pretty good at it though, so no complaints here.
