- Free Rice - Help needy nations!
Help needy nations and improve your vocabulary skills at the same time!
http://freerice.com/ This site is sponsored by the United Nations. Pretty much they ask you vocabulary questions, and for each question you get correct, 20 grains of rice are donated to hungry people in needy nations. This is the perfect way to stay lazy, help without donating money, and increase your vocabulary skills at the same time! A measly 20 grains of rice doesn't sound like much, but it adds up, and the more people we get doing this, the better it will be. One cup of rice: Uncooked - 7,200 grains Cooked - 1,500 grains Requesting a sticky or something. Keep bumping this thread, we're doing this to help people who desperately need it. Oh, and feel free to brag about your level.

Re: - Free Rice - Help needy nations!
Im so glad they are donating a food with no nutritional value whatsoever!
I ate rice for about 5 months almost everyday and dropped about 60 lbs. It should be like bread. Oh well, ill check it out. |

stargroup, I cook/eat rice all the time. 7,200 seems pretty accurate to me- 500 is way off. Keep in mind 1 cup of uncooked rice will end up being like 2 or so cups of cooked rice (adding water). ps i just donated 15,000 grains |

*EDIT* Stargroup, I'm mostly Chinese as well. I'm going to go get a cup of rice and count a part of it and estimate. *EDIT* I have a clear measuring cup in front of me, exactly filled to 8 ounces. There's approximately 170 grains of rice on the very top layer. I also count approximately 25 layers of rice. This ends up as an estimated 4250 grains of uncooked rice in one cup, which could be about 2000 grains of cooked rice. And BTW stargroup, I cook rice for myself every day for lunch and dinner.

Apparently I just donated 5 cups of rice then. This is so addictive, I just spent almost an hour on it.
Oh yeah, and level 33 if anyone cares. Not that good, but eh. |
