Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
First off, hey everyone! I've been around for a while, but I'm not too much of a forum-goer. I started playing FFR again a few months ago, then saw the tournament and thought it might be a good chance to check out the community. I got thrown in D3 and have just been lurking around ever since.
I probably still have a lot to learn, I just discovered R^3 about a week ago and have fallen in love. Second, this round's song is very fun. It was a bit frustrating though, I would play through the rolls, get a couple goods, and proceed to nail the grace note section perfectly. Next few tries, I would AAA everything up to and after the rolls, then choke and finish with 1 good. This happened like 6 times x) I'll try to post a bit more and make more of a presence =) Good luck to everyone! |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
Lol, I logged on today to find myself at the bottom of the list. Not sure if I can improve _that_ much, but I'll try. I really think my performance so far has proved my point that playing a song a lot does nothing for me. After the first couple plays, I'll get a good score, and then not be able to beat it for the rest of the round. I envy you people who can just keep improving.
Welcome Mike, though I'm not really all that forum-active myself, just for tournaments. |

In the skill booster tourney, I played each of my songs 80-300 times to get the scores I got.

That 22-good booflag didn't last me too long, did it? lol. Not sure if I can beat 10-12 goods, but I'll try.

D3's songs keep getting worse and worse
I'm actually starting to dread the later rounds instead of looking forward to them

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
Thanks for the welcomes =) I've really enjoyed all the songs so far. Must be something about the dubstep ones though, they've been the easiest for me to hit.
As for predictions... beary605, axith, and Jonlovesddr have all been pretty much perfect up until now. They'd probably be safe bets in D3. I'll try to give them a run for their money though =P I don't know too many other people yet, but that'll probably change soon. |

I'm a bit bummed that Prawnskunk fell out as he bested me in Halogen's Christmas tourney. I was looking forward to competing on the harder files with him. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
From my view (don't take this personally :P):
axith is very, very good at AAAing things, but can't play fast and accurate. I feel that I make too many mistakes, but I can play hard songs. Jonlovesddr can play fast, but isn't that accurate. I also think that HalfStep is a competitor, he/she has relatively good scores so far, but will probably drop off in Round 6/7. You could be another finalist too, you have good saved games, and good scores so far. A little off-topic bit here: I'm trying out the D4 song right now, and the intro is kicking my ass :P Just can't get it down. How much trouble do you have with it, if you tried it? |

HalfStep is definitely a competitor. No doubt about that. And for the hell of it, here's my best runthough of quark. Probably will get it down under 20 goods by the time the weeks up. |

I just tried out that intro a few times... I think I got about 9 goods and a few averages at best. It's a tough one, and I'm a bit tired. I can read the beginning and recover about halfway through it, but it's still trouble for now, yeah. Out of those descriptions, I think I sound most like you. I can play harder songs, but actually being accurate and AAA'ing something is tough. Even Entry, I think I got something like 4-0-0-0 in the first few plays and needed 40 more tries to get it down. I don't know, I've just been playing in my little corner up until now =P Quote:
I saw a prediction thread not too long ago, and Prawnskunk was near the top for number of votes, yeah. It seemed a little odd that he'd drop out, but that last round was a real 'get the feel of the song or dont' thing, eh? |

Competition is getting heated huh?
I never took the engine screenshot cause I didn't think it was that good a score My predictions for D3 are me/beary/axith (In that order) --- For D2, Rarity and arcnmx are two frontrunners, with 3rd place being pretty much impossible to call for me. It's gonna be an entertaining division to watch.. --- I don't know anyone in D1

I have a feeling that this round is going to have a very very tight cutoff... Thankfully I love the song and the chart is fun so I'll be playing for the AAA (will be my highest non-indexable AAA if I get it!)
