Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Today I've been pondering over a question about my internet browsing. Which do you think is more beneficial; Internet Explorer or Firefox. Browsers vary between everyone here on FFR, so I decided to ask you all, and to anyone who's gone over this before, please share your opinions and your results about either. I'd try to experiment which to use myself but my parents sorta get in the way and won't allow me to change this stuff behind their backs. Anyway please post your opinions on whether I should change my browser to Firefox or not and state why. Thank you.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Personally, I find IE better for PAing songs on FFR for some reason and I've tested this theory. Vista may have something to do with this though I'm not entirely sure.
The majority of FFR users play on FireFox or Safari. |

FFR won't work on my FireFox...has no sound and has like a 2 sec delay.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
I'd say Firefox its best for viewing the profiles IE would cut them in half
EDIT: and is this really critical thinking i thought this would be in chit chat

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
For the record I'm not asking this question for the FFR game playing abilty, for the internet browsing benefits as a whole.

Firefox is better at pretty much everything except for Flash.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
FireFox doesn't handle flash well. IE for ffr, Fire Fox for everything else.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Firefox beta 3 handles flash wonderfully. Also I voted both options because you should use radio buttons and not check boxes for a 2 option vote.

I don't see how this is a thought-inducing thread.
Not critical thinking. Moved to chit chat. |

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Firefox is way better than IE. It's more secure and everything, but I use it for three main reasons.
1) Adblock Plus + Filterset.G Updater: This is a godsend, and everyone should use it. Sometimes I visit FFR on IE, and I'm stunned at the number of ads there are. No, I don't feel guilty about blocking them; I usually never click on ads anyways. Perhaps someday I'll subscribe and make up for it. 2) (Just discovered) Vertical Tab Tree extension: Right now, I have around 50-60 tabs open. When turned vertical on the side of my screen, it is much easier to keep track of them, especially since tabs can be nested. 3) Session restore/save (Tab Mix Plus): this is great; self-explanatory, really. Firefox-awesomeness isn't really about the browser, per se, but more about the extensions that aren't available for any other browser. Opera is decent, but can't really compare. Some other awesome extensions that make life fun: Tab Renamizer (...um, I use it for lolcats, yeah...) and NoScript (for the extremely paranoid, who don't want random websites to trash their computer). |

Firefox also has support for lots of search bar plugins. Among the ones I use and love: Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, IMDB. Also I really love the bookmark toolbar. |

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Uhm, my comp has mad lag on FF, so does Erics and a lot of other people I know (Hammy, and good players like him)
IE is the way to go for ffr.

Yes, Firefox is much better, than IE. IE now sucks, it's not as great as it used to be.

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Firefox, without a doubt. Also, wonderful little thing for all you people (including me) that use IE for FFR - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
Now you don't even have to open another program. ^_^ Also highly recommended: -Adblock Plus = Blocks 99% of ads, you can manually block the rest -NoScript = I never get spyware because of this addon -Download Statusbar = For the minimalist like me =P -All-in-One Gestures = I LOVE this addon, makes me much more efficient. EDIT: Haha, 3 people so far have apparently voted for both options. |

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Make that 4 people. Nothing's wrong with having both browsers installed on the same computer.
IE is good for FFR, but to me, only FFR. Firefox is good for everything else. And that add-on doesn't seem to work well for me; it seems like it's still the same. |

Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Eh sorry about the limited options. I didn't think this would be such a complex question. All the details you guys have provided really helps out my ideas. (I counted this as critical thinking for said complexity) I must apologize though... I should have mentioned that I would still have IE installed; should have reworded to "change default". Anywho, thanks to you all for all this feedback on this subject. I find this very helpful. Didn't know FF had add ons like that.
