Expanding Bits & Bytes
Since only 1 thread (THE Project Euler) has really been active since this forum's inception, could we perhaps expand the topics allowed here to "OMG MY COMPUTER BSOD HALP" and other computer related things such as people's new rigs and IT stuff? Basically anything computer related and not just programming?

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
Not a bad idea, since we kinda don't have a computer forum right?
Other than games/music I mean.

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
That's what I said in the first thread that was created in this forum section. This should just be a technology board to broaden the threads that can go here.

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
I second/third/eighty-ninth this idea! It'd be nice is this WAS a general technology thread. News updates, videos, technological advances, etc, could also be posted here. I'm always sad that there's NOTHING on this board.

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
That's a better idea since programming isn't really common knowledge, converse to general computing, which spans a broad range of topics since everyone here has one.
Also, fido for Bits and Bytes mod. |

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
But they're trusted by the world!!!
I agree with this idea. There's a clear need for a discussion place for general computer stuff, and it would fit well here, and this subforum is pretty inactive as is. In fact, I can't really see any reason not to do this.

Nothing's stopping you. Go ahead. I'll fix the forum description at one point.

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
Neat. Would it be cool if I PM'd you a bunch of threads to be moved here? (not right away, since I'm not home, but eventually.) Just so that people get the idea.

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
I think he probably wouldn't want to go through all that work just for the sake of everything being orderly. A forum description change is all that's really needed and would be what's needed for people to start using this forum as we intend to now. I guess now would be a good time to pitch potential descriptions? I'd help but this isn't really down my alley lol.

Re: Expanding Bits & Bytes
"Need help with your computer? Want to show off your new desktop? Having troubles with your iPod syncing properly? Check out this section first!"
"General technology disscussion - everything from your browser freezing to building a new computer." etc. We should probably make a sticky letting people know that we have a forum for video games - but they can post here if they are having a specific problem with a game not running properly on their PC or something. And fido is right - if anything were to move, it would be threads like "My Desktop Thread Version X" and such, so its just better to make new threads
