Help with "Song Effects" in Stepmania

I just started using the Transcendence theme and everything is fantastic, except when I try to play a song, after hitting a few notes successfully the notefield becomes small and a lot of weird effects occur that I don't know how to turn off. This includes making the notefield small as heck, having the notes wave around, making them a different color, as well as fading in notes.

does this happen on every song or just a few because its probably the song itself and not the theme

It happens only on specific songs I guess, But is there a way to basically disable effects all around?

Or individually

you could try deleting transcendence and downloading gorillamania; that might help

Definitely song-specific - a quick search on YouTube shows that this song has mods within the song's difficulty itself, and isn't using some sort of course file. You can't turn those kinds of difficulty-specific mods off, if I remember correctly.
