How do you determine if a song is "steppable"?
I saw this term being thrown around a bit in the ODIpack3 submission thread, and me being a beginner stepper, I don't really know exactly what it means. What do you think makes a song steppable?
For me, it's one with a complex and varying rhythm, with a clear melody to follow, while not being cluttered. |

Re: How do you determine if a song is "steppable"?
Steppable material is up to the chart maker. I tend to pick songs with beats that get caught in my head, or interesting rhythms to me that I try to capture.
What is steppable to one person, isn't always steppable to another, and even then some songs are suited depending on the game. |

Re: How do you determine if a song is "steppable"?
Anything is steppable for the right reasons, more or less. However finding a song with lots of unique beats in it is very much desirable when it comes to stepping.
For instance, take majority of the songs from the blues. While there some blues that are really good, a lot of them don't have a lot of unique beats going on for a player to enjoy and play the song at the same time, if that makes any sense. Another example is if you did pick a song with lots of beats, like generic techno, that may still not be steppable because the songs in nature are very repetitious in composition and would make the player get bored repeating the same rhythm. So yeah, everything is steppable, but for the most part. It's very much desired that that song, whatever that may be, has lots of variations to the music. |

if you listen to it and visualize steps you think is an appealing chart to yourself and possibly to other players then its steppable

-silence -a single, very long, non-changing tone -basically anything that either has either too little sound or so many sounds going on in such a way that nothing is distinguishable or quantizable (such as a room with over 1000 people all talking at once) |
