tip system?
what if FFR had a tip system, where whenever you see a post in the forums you find helpful, interesting, etc., you can choose to click a "tip" button, that gives the poster a small amount of your credits. probably not gonna happen, but whatever, i think i'd be cool.

Re: tip system?
Yeah but then people could just spam the button or multiple people tip them and it would lower the already near useless credits values.

Re: tip system?
maybe you could only do it once, and its taking credits from the user who tips the poster. plus, it would only be a small amount, like maybe 5 credits or something?

Re: tip system?
Hmmm maybe but then there could possibly be a record of all the people you tipped and links to the post that you found helpful. Could happen but i doubt it.

Re: tip system?
I really like this idea. I'm not a fan of customizing vBulletin templates, though. Let's see how much support this gets.

Re: tip system?
I also think this could be a sort of encouragement for people. It might have a few people post more often in the forum. It also might build a little confidence if they see themselves getting a lot of "tips" from their info.

Re: tip system?
In my experience this just becomes a popularity contest and makes most people just beg for tips in every post.

Re: tip system?
There are certain ways this could work. It's a sweet idea, especially using credits.

Re: tip system?
I actually really like this idea as long as credits aren't given to the person being tipped...I just feel that that would cause too many problems xP Five credits to give a tip I don't think would be a bad idea, though. Not too much for people who want to tip but makes it less likely that people would just spam them.

But it's whatever. It's not a bad idea, and not like this damned board isn't already a popularity contest. =/ |

Re: tip system?
I like this idea. As long as they actually indicate how much the OP has been tipped somewhere in the thread, to show how popular a thread is. And, when searching for threads, you could maybe sort it by "Most Tipped Threads" (?)
oh, and definitely 5 credits per person.

Re: tip system?
If there's some kind of toplist for most tipped people or anything like that, all that happens is someone makes an alt account, plays a few games, and then tips their main, over and over and over.

Re: tip system?
Actually it's a good idea just the logistics of getting it to work well would be difficult.

Re: tip system?
Easy. Just set a limit on how many times you can tip one user in a specific period of time.

Re: tip system?
Or Sprite, you could set a limit to how many times one user can tip a certain user for a particular post. That way, it might be easy to track. Don't forget, this could also show through the credit transfer log that way it's easy to track people trying to abuse the system.

Re: tip system?
Here's something I've run across in a few other communities, see what you think.
Instead of giving credits, users can accumulate "karma" by what other people think of them. People may "praise" (give good karma) or "smite" (give bad karma) to users that make posts that they approve or disapprove of. This has a few benefits over the credit transactions: -It can be disabled for the Garbage Bin much like post count -Credits are not cheapened any further than they already are -Limitations on who can give karma when may also be enacted -When giving karma, the user may add the reason for doing so in a confirmation screen It's worth a shot. One site I know that uses the system is http://www.overworldrp.org |

Re: tip system?
Karma will be whored, with 5 credits it gives it a little more meaning.
Who gives a shit about "karma". If I wanted karma I'd go FC Planet KARMA. |
