Goodness, you all sound busy. Mostly.
I won't be doing anything work related. Except maybe the Dal shabet forum. Last edited by Nyokou; 05-11-2011 at 08:30 AM.. |

Re: Man, I miss summer
Wish I kept my first job then move to a big box store.
I was getting paid $5.60/hr back in July 2004. In what would have been my first year, I would have gotten $8,400 before taxes, etc. In what would have been my second year, I would have gotten at least $8,625 (again - before taxes). I applied to Target after I graduated right before I would have entered my third year at my first job. I was offered $14.00/hr to work in the backroom. For reasons I still don't know, I turned it down. I'm 22 now so I would have gotten between $25,200/yr (before taxes) in what would have been my first year and $27,900/yr (before taxes) in what would have been my current year. I still hate myself. edit: Just did some math with estimated raises through the years. I would have earned $123,225 before taxes. I hate myself even more. Re: Man, I miss summer
I just wish I had low expenses. I've earned so much and yet a large chunk of it has siphoned right back out into NYC/loan expenses. ****.

Re: Man, I miss summer
You probably have more disposable income than me still. I have huge payments in terms of rent/school loans/etc etc

The only bad part about summer is how ridiculously hot it always is.

Re: Man, I miss summer
The heat is what makes it amazing
I thrive in like 85-95 degrees =P

Re: Man, I miss summer
every summer since freshmen year in highschool i've had a job. about 40 hrs a week but i can't go over 40 hrs or else they'll have to give us benefits which would cause a few problems. this summer i'm shipping to basic, so that'll be fun.

Re: Man, I miss summer
Last summer I was in boot camp the entire time, getting slayed by DI's etc. Always busy, no time to myself, had fun and didn't complain about it. xD
This summer will be pretty nice though. Will be in Arizona with the nice, hot heat, working on the flight line for 12+ hours a day, nearly getting killed by all the chaos that happens especially with what I work on (ejection seats being the major hazard), often 7 days a week, good chance of getting deployed to sea for 6-8 months, yet I'll still have plenty of time and fun stuff to do afterwards. Anyone who complains about having to work and do measly classes during the summer, shut up already. =P

Re: Man, I miss summer
Being a teacher is the most punk-rock job because you get to tour with your band during winter/summer/spring break. I don't know if it's that that's attractive or the fact that the spread of knowledge is a punk ideal.
Just putting that out there. I make a lot of little observations like these... |
