Rhythm game for CS Capstone
Kinda not really FFR related but I was thinking about attempting to make a decent rhythm game for my capstone in a semester's time and was wondering how hard it would be to understand the basics of how a rhythm game i.e. FFR functions on the code side of things. More than likely it'll be written in C++ or C#
I haven't really looked into much of how judging, timing, syncing, and offsets work aside from some reddit posts but it doesn't seem to be too terrible to at least understand a basic concept of how everything works Obviously I wouldn't just make a clone of FFR, I was thinking something along the lines of almost a Rock Band type thing but I would have the options to isolate just the snare for example to teach someone how to play by slowly adding in more parts to an overall piece of music versus easy, medium, etc. The same could be applied to piano by starting with just the right hand and adding in the left hand and so on. The game would still probably be keyboard based because of the time constraint but a straight clone would be boring/probably wouldn't be allowed. It sounds fun and I would like to be challenged with something I want to do assuming it can be done in around 5 months before I propose it to my professor. |

I'd ask the guys who made Etterna, as they might be able to help with things like "judging, timing, syncing, and offsets," along with whatever else you might need. Here's the link to the Etterna thread:

Thank you, that's some good reading to have an idea of what to expect if I get it approved
