Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
I'm really bored, and started to wonder if playing FFR constantly increases the person's ability to play DDR (not physically).
I'll tell you what I mean. I like DDR and FFR, and I'm a lot better at FFR. But I noticed on songs that have a lot of jumps and streams of arrows, as I keep playing them, and then try a hard song on DDR, the arrow patterns become easier to "read" and so do the jumps. Respond with answer to title. |

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
it might make you a little better at ddr, but in general practicing ddr would help a lot more than practicing ffr.

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
I started DDR after I was already one of the top FFR players.
I started on Standard and was on Heavy within a week. So I'd guess that it probably helps you as far as starting out in DDR goes.

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
Same goes for me, Shash, except that I took a reaaallly long break of about two years after I started playing FFR. I started playing again, and it's piss easy to read the notes.
The only problem I have is that I miss the actual arrows on the pad when I try to step on them, and that I've not yet mastered crossovers.

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
IMO I don't think it does even though I started DDR first...
Back when I could only do Difficult-Very Difficult on FFR I was doing 8 footers on DDR. Now I can do Masters-Gurus on FFR but I can still only do 8 footers on DDR. So if it does help, it's not by much. But on the flipside, I think DDR helped me get the hang of FFR quicker. Kind of the opposite of Shashakiro I guess hehe |

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
I started playing DDR when I was about 9 or 10, and sucked, and then I started playing FFR in 2005. I'm now pretty good at FFR, but I can also play Heavy on DDR. Overall though I think FFR only helps you read the arrows better. Especially songs like CIA Rave, Force of Light, and other songs like those.

Nothing.

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
I find that once you're able to read a certain arrow speed, like say, 160bpm 16th notes, then your DDR skill is only limited to your physical performance, because you can already read it, it's just that maybe you can't quite move fast enough.

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
I'm good at DDR but not so much at FFR. I guess it depends on what you start out on if it helps you or not.

I used to play DDR like.. maybe twice or something in a year.. from.. 2000 to 2004. Then I remember I joined FFR April 2005, and I got addicted. I wasn't pretty good and stuff, but yeah.. In August of that same year, I started playing DDR.. And I was like "HOMG, WTF?" Last time I had played, I didn't know what the hell I was doing. It took me about 2 or 3 weeks though to go from playing light to heavy. |

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
It's frustrating when you can perfectly read every note but can't actually step on the corresponding arrow. It's like I should be good, but I'm not.

It will depend on how much of an FFR and DDR moron/freak you are for the game.

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
When I was entering a DDR tourney at my local arcade, I didnt have a good pad to play at home with, so I sat the Timing Window in SM to 8, and played the songs that are in DDR. All it did was make my Timing in DDR better (I already could play Heavy) and I did way better in that tourney then ever, I scored 6 out of 30. People who go play tounaments alot in the South will reginize the top five, but I wont list them...
However, FFR has a BIG timing window, so I doubt it'll help. |

It makes your reading skill better but not playing.

Gtfo. The best I can do is like an 8 or 9 footer on Heavy. Other than that, I suck. |

Re: Does FFR enhance DDR skills?
I can only do up to a seven footer, maybe eight on DDR, I suck at crossovers, and hate when it goes randomly from 8th notes to 16th then 4th then 16th and so on...
