FFR related announcement for those who know me
First and foremost, if this is in the wrong section, I apologize and have no issues figuring out a new place for it. I have decided this will be my final official FFR tournament. I have been in D4 (not contesting that placement haha) for the past 8 years roughly and have yet to even manage to place in the top 32. I believe firmly that I have hit my skill cap and even when I played hundreds of songs every day I was still unable to improve past that point. Instead of getting salty and toxic about it, I will continue to enjoy this game and forum, but will not stress myself out by attempting to compete in a tournament in which I cannot bring myself to a higher skill for. I wish all current and future competitors the best of luck, and hope to see more incredible things in the future from the community .
Sincerely yours, -Josh aka runescapedude1126. |

Re: FFR related announcement for those who know me
Heya, listen this game can be very frustrating to some extent. Especially in the form of skill. I started off playing this game in 2003. 13 years later, I'm not even the highest division. I'm D6. I was borderline high division a few years ago, but never could get over the hump.
But, it takes more than just practicing playing songs on FFR. It's more about pushing the limits of your abilities well beyond practicing. I played Stepmania so much and did nothing but hard files, and other files I knew on rates, etc. etc. There is so much you can do to train your eyes and fingers and anything else related to push past your "cap." If you truly wish to retire from competitive play, at least make sure it's because you want to retire. Not because you apparently have hit your "cap." I feel there is no boundaries to how far your skill can improve. |

Re: FFR related announcement for those who know me
There's always room to improve! I remember a million years ago when I thought I hit a skill gap, and went from d1 to D3. Now I'm in D4, and didn't make past round 1, but I'm still gonna try to improve - even if it feels like a skill cap (which I'm sure a lot of people here go through). It takes more than just whoring songs all day. Trying different things, stepmania has helped me in the past, playing songs you're not comfortable with (to get used to awkward patterns), thinking about what you need/want to improve on I.e. For me it would be mainly accuracy and jumpstreams, setting goals help some players strive to improve, or even having a rival. There's a million other things that you could potentially do.
One thing I wish I didn't do was stop playing ffr for years, cos now I'm super rusty. So hopefully we will still see you around!

Mate your D4 you need some finger strength yo.
Start walking around with full milk jugs handing from your index + middle fingers. Edit: make sure u drink the milk after for str0ng b0nes. Bro ur like EOC man look at you, retiring after the player count goes down, SHAME Last edited by Dinglesberry; 07-6-2016 at 01:12 PM.. |
