well for example, tricks like those are a bit hard to add on SM editor.
I just want an easier method if possible.

well, you can currently do boosts and brakes (just drag the beats so they get spaced more and more apart/closer), and add BPM stops (alt+v), but the scrolling during your ddream session is constant (you'll have to import into SM to actually see the effects)...

Here's a demo I put together to illustrate what ddream can do pretty easily, save the included DS file as an SM file (file->save as) to play: http://www.ddreamstudio.com/resources/moxie.zip

yeah boost is possible by doing that, still hard to make it smooth for me though.

will check out the demo.

Another thing that would be amazing to see in this.

I type of thing where looking at it, its a slide bar. To the left shows a low frequency number and to the right a high frequency. By sliding the bar to where you want on the slider, only that frequency that you slid it to will play.

For example, lets say you want to hear the bass drum notes in a song. You would slide the slider all the way to the left so that you can only hear the bass drum.

It'll probably be really hard to implement though.

Jimerax - what about something like:
1. select some beats (or start-end)
2. specify start BPM and end BPM, and acceleration curve
3. automatically makes beats as close as possible on that curve

(may be "on the hard side" to implement, and be a while)

dood gone krazee - you are right, it will be very difficult to implement (for me).
...but I'm not saying you'll never see this feature implemented either

EDIT: with my current, limited knowledge about how wave filtering works, I know it is possible to selectively filter (and listen to) a range of frequencies, BUT it's not like youre going to be perfectly extracting the drum track or the vocal track (like rock band). There will be interference.

Is there anything in particular I can help you with? (besides...everything)

If you can get past putting in beats, the rest is 99.9% SM editor.

I wish I had the motivation to step a song so I can use it. Your step editor is very good.

I really support this. +1000

Aside, I have a few questions... they may be already answered but they've bothered me for awhile and I've looked on the main ddream site and it's not there. Maybe post it on the sticky?

How do you select the note noteskin?
How come when I put in the average bpm it will sometimes be off by a few hundreths?
Is there a way to change the spread keys from zx./ to something else; and/or is there some way to fix my incapability of hitting all the notes on harder/faster songs?

I prolly have a few more questions but they're not in my head at the second. Thanks for this great piece of software!

The program operates with audio samples (i.e., the individual bytes of the song), like an audio editor, and "back-converts" to BPM for display and SM file compatibility.

So, it sometimes displays/alternates the BPM back and forth a few thousandths and writes additional BPM changes to the SM file, BUT you gain pixel-level editing and on the fly controls.

If you are bothered by the (converted) BPM doing that, you can always manually change it in notepad when you are done (or save as-> SM single BPM if you know what you are doing). Leaving the BPM value(s) as-is should not affect the sync when you are actually playing the file (in SM).

Thanks for using it, and feel free to ask anything I'll see what I can do about improving the filtering feature...

Is there any way you could add a feature to convert a ddreamstudio file into a picture...

like this: http://www.ddrfreak.com/stepcharts/s...&Submit=Submit

Good idea, and I was actually considering implementing such a feature at one point in time (e.g., file->export to picture), but...

There is at least one tool out there specializing in making pictures from a stepchart, where all you need to do is browse for the SM file, and voila!

link -> http://hawknest.stacken.kth.se:8080/...tepcharts.html

So I figure it'll be easier/better just using the existing tool. Is there anything in particular that you wanted that the existing tool (see above) does not have?

-------------------------
Anyway, I've released 1.30 (final). You can adjust the position of the status bar using the INI file, but other than that, it's a bit more stable than beta4.

link -> http://www.ddreamstudio.com/2.html

Also, is anyone interested in redesigning the layout of the website? Nobody seems to like the generic website template (I don't either, but no time). Due credit will be given for site design that gets used.

Please do this. I always thought the woman on the phone was a little strange considering the program edited stepfiles.

EDIT: Is there a way to edit your beats expanded out lot, but then when you play your song play it at a speedmod of your choice? If it's not, I think it'd be a good idea.

Does DDReam support any number of static BPMs?

for example,
1. set the static BPM at 150.010 on SM editor.
2. open the .sm file in DDream, and add BPM changes on some parts, then save as .sm.
3. open the .sm on SM editor again, and notice BPMs of static parts are like 150.008 - 150.017 - 150.008 - ........

I found it doesn't happen when the BPM is something like 150.000.

The only thing that tool doesn't have is a good noteskin.

And it's not integrated into your program.
