AIM? More like Triton. (AOL unveils new AIM client)
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=0...&tid=120&tid=1
http://www.betanews.com/article/AOL_...ent/1114480209 I realize this is ALMOST 36 HOURS OLD, sorry. My opinion? AOL is ripping off GAIM and Trillian (Trillian -> Triton) and making another shitty program, albeit with more features. I'll stick with Trillian 3. |

AIM is awful. The annoying-as-hell "Info" screen it's giving me when I sign in makes me want to delete my computer.

Does it have stupid audio ads? If so, I'm keeping Trillian, thank you.

is against custom titles

Y'know, it's not hard at all to prevent AIM from downloading any ads at all. Just go into the file where it directs the ads to an adserver and redirect the IP address to 127.0.0.1.
And Jazz, can you not turn that off in the options? I assume you mean the AIM Today window, since I don't know of any other screen that pops up without prompting. DeadAIM = win. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Guido, probably... I don't use AIM all that much and the sounds really annoy me. I've actually turned them off BUT IT DOESN'T WORK.
If I wasn't so damn lazy, I'd consider getting rid of that AIM Today thing. I'd rather find a patch that gets rid of alot of the little things about AIM that annoy me.

If there's one thing that AIM has done for us, it's the creation of AIM Anthem. Though of course, that was just a waste of a thousand credits.

Yes, like guido said DeadAim = Champion. Never had any problems with it, and no annoying ads. You can clone it so that you can have multiple names signed on at once and all the instant message windows are tabbed like firefox. So there isn't a clusterfuck of windows open, just one with your entire buddy list of friends in it. I just attempted to put my entire buddy list (online and off) in one window and it worked.. All 126 people, in one instant messageing window.
