Default Legend of Zelda Timeline

Or at least a theory of it.

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/21/ze...riend-the-end/

Watch the other five parts for a history of each game if you want.

They didn't include the ones for non-Nintendo consoles because they were made by a different company and sucked.

Watched it earlier this morning. I found it hard to understand by myself but after I watched it I realized it made absolute sense. With the two hyrule dimensions and no savior coming at the beginning of wind waker.

Just gotta hope that twilight princess and the other one for DS doesn't totally **** up that theroy.

So far there's no Ganon in Twilight Princess. It's making sense in the "Future" timeline.

I didn't watch it because I already have my own perfect time-line that fits with every game including handhelds (not including non-nintendo) and leaves room for anything Myamoto can throw at me.

Sometime I'll type it up and show how it works. Someone just tell me, does that timeline start with OoT and end with LttP?

EDIT jk i meant awakening, re-reading the wiki

EDIT 2: okay my timeline is wrong if you go by what the instruction manuals say. Here's what I have now

OoT > MM > Oracles > TP > 4 swords then 4 swords adventures > WW > PH > Zelda 1 > Zelda 2 > Minish > LttP > Awakening

I guess I'll watch the video now =(

The Minish Cap is the only one I haven't played, so I had no idea that it was first. Both Oracle games at the end made sense except for one thing: If you do the linking thing with both games, you fight Twinrova and then GANON at the end, right? If that's so, would that join the timelines back together? But even thinking that, I have my own contradictions, and it's making my head spin.

They need to just come clean about it cause it's pissing people off and/or confusing every single Zelda fan ever.

I personally cannot wait to get a bit of money to buy the rest of the Zelda's. The N64 ones and then unfortunately the gameboy ones too and of course the new Wii one and then Phantom whatever for whichever console.

Why complicate things?

I just think of them all as standalones unless expressly implied in the game itself. There are a few games in which obvious ties are made, but beyond that, the only common element is the characters and world in which they live.

And after all, in each game, you have to start over from the beginning. It's not like in nondirect sequals you get to keep your items you gained in a previous chronological episode (only justified thing I can see is him being shipwrecked in his Link's Awakening adventure; besides that, none of the sequals starting out with nothing make sense in a chronological system).

EDIT: And by the way, one of the reasons that the series is so popular is that the ames can function quite well as a standalone (barring certain obvious exceptions).

So you're putting it over Mario, The Tales Series, etc. That's an understandable opinion, but there are a LOT of series games in Nintendo.

That was one interesting video. I think it makes sense for the most part, even the time split that leads to Majora's Mask and also to Twilight Princess

That video definitely filled in a lot of holes in my theories of the timeline, but I had one problem with it. At the end of Oracle of Ages/Seasons when you link the two games, you face Ganon and whichever oracle was in the second game already knows you. Plus the ending cinema of the games shows Link leaving the area he is at on a boat, which would inevitably lead to Link's Awakening, where he gets shipwrecked. When he comes to, the world has been flooded by the Triforce, thus bringing on Wind Waker.

NOW I have to think more, because what fox tails said made more sense but is way different than the video.
Nintendo really needs to make an official timeline already.

I wish I had every zelda game then I'd be able to play each one according to the timeline and really see for my self if it's accurate enough. Then I would make my own if I thought I could make a better timeline.

I have most of the games. I don't even know that a Zelda I or II existed.

This is the best documentary I've seen in my life.

I should become a Video Game documentarist.

It'd be awesome.

I don't know why people would get pissed off. I love things like this, games that have mystery and allow you to open and think about stuff really amuses and excites me.

Fox tails you have to remember that it can't be the same Link in that one as the beginning of windwaker says that the people begged for their hero but he never came.
That way it makes sense that Hyrule B where link doesn't exist. Had the people crying for him to come but he never existed in that world so ganon was free to take over and flood the world.
