Re: bad customer service and bad customers
dumb people are one of the reasons why I quit my job at chuck e cheese rofl
just gotta press on, I guess I was talking to a woman last friday about changing hotels, there were finance issues with the VA. She wasn't helping me at all, so I asked to talk to her supervisor. She responds by repeating "hello" over and over, as if she lost connection. Then hangs up on me. I call again, ask to talk to her supervisor, and again, it's "hello hello" and a click. fucen bitch

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
Dealing with the public in general is ALWAYS difficult. People always complain and yell about orders in the Chinese restaurant I work at. Some people say they want chicken and rice or some unspecific order without looking at choices. Others say they want "rings" but they mean shrimp (because shrimp are shaped like rings to them apparently lol). Quite a few people ask for the prices of their orders for every single item. Thank god I'll have less time at work next year while I'm in college.

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
I called my cable company today because the internet and televisions have been unstable for a week or so. He asked some quick questions and we came to the conclusion that it wasn't something they could fix from their end so he said they could send a technician over the same day in a few hours. Then he told me to have a great day and I said you too and the call ended.
Technician came and found an issue with static in some of the tv cables and replaced them for free and fixed the problem. All in all it was a great experience. |

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
When I was hired at a local Dairy Queen, it was right before a bunch of bikers came into town. Sure enough, they moved over from the bar and wanted some smoothies. One couple pestered me for a good half hour about why I couldn't put any alcohol in their smoothie with the line backed up. They broke my focus so much I dropped several blizzards when I had to flip them upside down before handing them over.
All while the manager was observing us too. Which meant she wouldn't help me. Thank god I quit that place. |

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
Space Center Houston in the gift shops. I would be asked by tourists if they could get a discount since their bill would end up between $300-500. I explained that we don't do discounts for that - let alone wholesale discounts.
Kemah Boardwalk in the ticket booths. I could share a hundred stories about how I get yelled at by guests, but the majority of them would be because of poor training by my colleagues. Instead I'll share this one: It was a busy day and I just finished a transaction and a guest thought I short changed him (Keep in mind that I worked retail at SCH for 4 years. I know how to count change). I asked by the cash offce to audit me. It came back that I was actually short $5 from an earlier transaction. I informed the guest that I didn't owe him anymore money. He told me, "You're full of shit!" Luckily it was during a weekend: Police officers employed by the Kemah Boardwalk on duty were in the area and in the cash office. I told my superiors what the guest said so my manager, one county sheriff, and two city police officers responded and escorted the guest off the Kemah Boardwalk property. I didn't really have any problems at my next work at Target except for my last day there (I put in my two week notice). An adult couple were looking at bicycles and when they decided, they chose to ride them to the register (that's a no no). I said, "Please don't ride in the store." The male guest decided to be a smart-ass, "I'm not riding" (he was on the bike, but using his feet to move). I follow with, "Please get off" (I stood in front of the bike to stick my hand out in a STOP motion). The female guest didn't like that and demanded my manager. I called for the manager over the walkie talkie. There were other guests who watched - including a guest who needed help getting an item out of a locked case. The couple goes to talk to one of my leads while I help the guest with the locked case. My lead (who talked the couple) came over while I was checking out the guest and the guest immediately came to my defense. The lead said that the male guest said he wasn't on the bike. (At this point, I was thinking "Yeah... BULLSHIT!" There are cameras on each and every aisle. Nothing yet at my new job at Springhill Suites by Marriott as a Front Desk Agent. I hope nothing for at least a year. Last edited by DotKritic; 06-27-2013 at 10:50 PM.. |

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
I work part-time at a grocery store as a dairy/grocery clerk and whenever there are items that aren't in stock or even in the store for that matter, I'd say 1 out of every 5 customers will get genuinely upset. Most of the time, they will rant about how "the store never has anything I need" or "I'll never come to this store again" and the usual bullshit, and I have no choice but to apologize and put on a sympathetic facade—in the worst cases, I have to call my manager to deal with them.
I've had several cases of customers looking at last week's flyer as opposed to the current week's and they start complaining about false advertising and any of the aforementioned bullshit when they're the ones being incompetent at reading fucking dates on the front page. THAT SHIT IS BIG AND BOLD LIKE THIS AND IS AT THE VERY TOP OF THE PAGE UNDER THE STORE'S WORDMARK, HOW CAN YOU NOT READ IT? Stuff that was previously on sale goes back to regular price and customers would complain anyways even though they're at fault for not dragging their ass to the fucking store during that week. In addition, countless times have there been customers that come shopping in the store while looking at another grocery chain's flyer that isn't ours, but in most cases the customers realize their mistake. I've also had a customer snap back at me for not selling a specific brand of product when the store doesn't even carry that line in the first place—our rival grocery chain does. ???????????????????????

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
I was a tutor because it was damn good money for an undergrad, but for fuck's sake, some people have the worst parents when it comes to diverting blame. It gave me a taste of what it must be like to be a teacher. Absolutely miserable.
Most of my students did quite well come test time, but there was always one or two who either saw no improvement or actually did worse. One mother called me and was furious, ranting on and on about how much money she spent on these classes and how it was all my fault, blah blah blah. I felt like saying, "Look, your son is a lazy shit. He's by far the worst student I have. He obviously doesn't want to be in my class and is probably only there because you're forcing him to. 95% of the time he's not listening to me and just watches the clock on the wall, and during our practice runs/exercises, he circles shit at random and doesn't try at all." I offered to tutor her son privately, but she didn't want to pay the extra fees and felt that since it was my problem in the first place, I should do it for free. Uhhh. Fuck-to-the-no. As a self-sufficient, full-time student (who also worked full-time), teaching some reluctant kid for free was the last thing I needed to do with my time. |

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
I work at a full service gas station, which means we'll start your fuel, wash your window, check your oil if you'd like and bring your money in if you're lazy. We'll do other general duties like checking tires/filling them and filling propane tanks. We have customers that come in for $10 worth of gas, and then complain about not having their back window done BEFORE the fuel is finished. $10 of gas doesn't take long to pump, and generally we're holding a squeegee in our hand while hanging the pump up, implying that we planned on doing the back window. Then they'll complain about how the service in our other two locations is better than ours (which I know is complete bullshit because I've worked at both other locations and told them to do better jobs.) Customers are always going to find reasons to complain, or there wouldn't be a service industry. I just wear my shit eating grin and tell the occasionally horrible customers to leave and never come back.

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
I started working at home depot about a month ago, one of our biggest emphasis's is customer service, and seriously only working there a month there has been so many people complaining or aggravated. One guy threatened a co-worker over a machine not displaying an emailed receipt option and yelled "DO I HAVE TO CALL CORPORATE?" The other day a customer got snappy with me because I had to call a garden associate for a sku number to ring up some plants because he was in such a damn hurry... Or you get the occasional "I'm going to Manards or Lowes" I'm not against any of the stores, I just ring up the stuff before they leave and try to be respectful of everyone like we were asked to. Never been angry... yet, I have been sad a few times... It's stressful but I'm still new to the job so I'm slowly learning and its just becoming more normal. Today was actually a decent day, I think the worst were these 2 grumpy old men whispering about some other store down the road right in front of me purposefully, because we were sold out of the plants they wanted.

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
Oh god, I can sympathize with any of you that unfortunately have to deal with shitty customers. In my movie theatre, we have shit happening all the time. Last week, the power went out during a huge storm - there were about 1100 people in the building, and we had to evacuate. The power came back on about 30 minutes after everyone left, and when we re-opened we had so many people yelling at us, complaining about the "shitty customer service" because of the power. They literally said we shouldn't have let it go out because it ruined their experience. What the everloving fuck, do you think we turned the power off to troll you all? Jesus christ.

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
They just want their free movie pass. Which I agree the theater should probably just give them. Being retarded and blaming the theater for the outage is full retard though.

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
What we told everyone is that as long as they have their stub (as we didnt have 1100 passes available) they could get in for free again, any day, any movie. Sorry, didn't mention that part

Re: bad customer service and bad customers
I've had many experiences with customers from my days at McDonald's. On those late nights that I'd take orders in drive thru, the obscene comments would already begin even before the customers reached the window. I've been called a fuckbag, a lowlife, a n*gger (I'm so white it hurts but imagine if I had been black...), and some other unoriginals... and then they would demand smiles because "smiles are free!!!" (I'm reasonably certain that no longer exists on any McD's menus around here).
Fortunately for me, I had managers who cared more about the workers' comfort levels than those of the customer when it came to situations like this, so I was free to respond with gems such as "get the fuck out of my drive thru before I get you arrested for driving drunk" etc. (you could always hear drunkenness in someone's voice, and it was generally the case that the rambunctious hooligan behind the wheel was three steps further into the bag than anyone else in the vehicle, so this was typically a safe assumption to make and they sometimes sobered up pretty goddamn fast as a result). It's amazing how offended they would get when we did flatly refuse to serve them. Even better would be the customers immediately after who had been in line, heard the ruckus, and apologized to us for them. I was appreciative, but inherently thinking "why the hell are you apologetic about someone else's stupidity yeesh." There were many more incidents, and I didn't confront most customers with as much sass then as I would've liked. One thing about those experiences, though: I grew a backbone mighty fast. Now my jobs throughout the school year revolve around teaching labs, marking homework assignments, and tutoring university students, all in math. This summer, I'm just a research assistant in math. There's absolutely no customer-worker interaction, and I fucking love it. Math doesn't call me a fuckbag or a n*gger, and I can only get frustrated with myself if I can't figure something out -- which, given the career path I am on, is precisely what my future will hold. If that means never working in a toxic customer environment again while retaining the confidence I have developed, then colour me thrilled. (Sometimes I still dream about violently attacking customers for being fucking nincompoops but after 4.5 years there it is embedded in my mind anyway, and I still have friends there who continue to tell me the horror stories.) As for bad customer service, let me just say never order anything from Lenovo because if it's defective and you want a replacement or a refund, it will take 3 months for them to get their shit together and that's still being woefully optimistic. Also, I believe this is all around the Internet if you look, and you'll find many terrifying encounters that people have written about, but FUCK ROGERS. I don't feel like elaborating on that right now, because it has most assuredly happened to someone else and I could probably track down a frighteningly similar story in 25 seconds. 20 if I hadn't just consumed a pint. Re: bad customer service and bad customers
My store started closing at midnight from being 24 hours.
Which has certainly struck a huge fucking gold vein in the comedy goldmine. When I go on break I get to watch people walk right into the automatic door that gets locked when we close. If I manage to actually get away with filming it prepare for a youtube montage. Incidentally weve had to deal with employees getting locked out in some cases for HOURS at a time. Ive also been finding customers somehow STILL in the store hours after we closed. Also we've recently had to change the walkie frequencies due to several neighbouring businesses using the same frequency. Kept hearing shit like "there's still a few dead bodies in the back that haven't been processed yet", that one made a few people freak out. Also the people at the nearby les schwab like to cuss a lot. "Wake the fuck up shit head" |
