What Cydia apps do you use?
I just jailbroke my iPhone after months of putting it off, and I need to know legit apps that you all recommend. There's a few lists online, but I can't seem to weed out the apps that are really hot from the not. So anyway, help me out CC!
State your phone/firmware (4.3.2) in your post if you can please. Currently using: SBSettings iRealSMS 3G Unrestrictor

Before my iTouch was run over, it had iOS4.1(?) and the Cydia Apps were Winterboard(decks out your device in DL'd themes from Cydia), Installous(DL almost any App for free), and some generic file manager.

Completely forgot about those. I think Installous is banned, or I don't have the right repository link loaded up yet, because I can't find it.
I've managed to find a good page on apps that I am willing to downloaded though: http://www.macstories.net/iphone/my-...ks-for-iphone/

Installous, Winterboard, Fontswap
I usually go through the app store to find things easier, then go to Installous to get it for free. Winterboard for themes etc. Fontswap for changing fonts. I haven't been using it for too long, so I don't have a lot.

Re: What Cydia apps do you use?
Both iRealSMS and biteSMS require you to purchase "credits" in order to send text messages, otherwise I would definitely stick with these apps (come on, quick reply is just essential). I'm currently trying to find a GPS application that can do turn-by-turn directions. You have to pay an extra fee through ATT to have that feature enabled.
Also, I just found out today that I can call Canada for free. Winning Edit- Also, most of the apps I've come across that are downloaded from Installous seem to be corrupted. Are you guys having this same problem?

Personally, I use SBSettings, a notifications manager, covert, ipockettv (not up and running at the moment), intelliscreen, a generic android pattern lock, and of course winterboard. Lots of plugins and tweaks as well, it's pretty much a franken-phone now.

It is absolutely worth it to go out of your way to find a working link to get Installous loaded onto your phone, you will not regret it.

Re: What Cydia apps do you use?
I loved the fake lock screen. It looked the the unlocked screen, but one of the app icons were actually the icon you slide to unlock it. I hated when people would pick up my ipod touch and check out my apps when I wasn't looking (when I used to have it), so I put that. Then they would come up to me and say "hey, your ipod touch isn't working dude." And I would say "maybe it's because it knows you didn't bother asking me to use it, idiot."
They hated it when I unlocked it for them and the realized it was a lock screen lol. That's what one gets for being nosy and touching other people's belongings. Edit: To actually be productive, I have a friend who does nothing but find good apps on his iphone. As for installous, you'll find links that won't work. Keep using other links until you get one that works. After a while, you'll find that some sites tend to have more credible links than others. It's like the sites that stream movies on the internet. Some are more reliable. I'll ask my friend what apps he has that would recommend. Jailbreaking an iPod brings a lot of opportunity to the iPod Touch/iPhone. At this point losing a warranty is worth more when you realize how many apps you'll get. Some iPod Touch music players are going as low as 60 dollars brand new for the 2nd gen, if not lower (I haven't checked lately). The prices are going down for the older ones, and they are pretty decent right now. Last edited by ddrxero64; 04-25-2011 at 04:54 PM.. |
