Is my playing style weird?
Everyone I know tells me it's... Different. I use my 3rd and 4th fingers on the DFJK keys. Anyone else besides me use this?

Re: Is my playing style weird?
I use middle- and ringfinger on WEIO, and I believe Cedolad also uses those fingers, but don't know what keys he uses.

Re: Is my playing style weird?
I used to use middle and ring fingers but i heard it will limit your skill in the long run so i switched to index and middle fingers.

I don't see it as weird, but trilling on one side can be really hard.

Re: Is my playing style weird?
Left/Right jacks and one-sided trills are really hard for those fingers. You may find you can do well with them for now, but many of us already have enough troubles with those two things with the faster fingers. Maybe your ring fingers are better than normal, but you're probably going to want to switch, unless you don't mind playing with a handicap.

Re: Is my playing style weird?
but spread players have a handicap with jacks anyways. no matter what your going to have a handicap.
i say stick with what your doing and you will be awesome. lots of people play like that. you should play 6 key

Re: Is my playing style weird?
I have no idea what you're babbling about Garquillex. I have played 3rd/4th finger since I started FFR (no other rhythm game before I started) and don't feel that they're any slower than 2nd/3rd, in fact I'm slower AND less accurate with 2nd/3rd.
There is one major advantage I have noticed: chains are a piece of cake using these fingers, you only have to turn your hand, for your middle- and ringfinger use the same muscle Don't listen to them, I for one don't believe in this handicap. 5 0 0 5 on FFLBF, beat that majority of 2nd/3rd players!

Re: Is my playing style weird?
Because your middle and ring finger share a tendon, this is why it's naturally more difficult to trill with said fingers on one hand as opposed to using two fingers with separate tendons
Theoretically it'd bottleneck your trilling speed to nearly your wristjacking speed. It might seem easier than using your index and middle fingers, but that's only because you've had practice with other fingers

Re: Is my playing style weird?
that's not weird, i even sometimes switch the fingers from middle-index to ring-middle in the middle of song, so it isnt something bad

Hey, that's my set up. Except the right hand is shifted 1 key to the right.

ps; with a bit of practice, there's no such thing as a handicap.

Also, the names of the fingers are thumb, pointer/index, middle, ring, and pinky. Enough of this retarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd crap. Last edited by Flaming_Dingleberry; 10-4-2009 at 10:25 PM.. |
