Step my new song?
If any simfile authors out there are interested in stepping and submitting it, that'd be rad. Thanks! Just let me know.

Re: Step my new song?
sounds kinda repetitive and a bit slow, I am not saying im an expert on the matter, but to me it doesn't sound like something I would want to step. The second half is alright though but again repeats alot.

Re: Step my new song?
It could def be shortened, especially the intro.

Re: Step my new song?
Intro is way too long; however, that beat after that intro was pretty good. This song definitely has potential, but I don't think it's good enough for it to be stepped at its current state.

Re: Step my new song?
please use new samples. it sounds like something straight out of newgrounds with the samples that you chose to use.
creating steppable music is about rhythmic variety. this song is severely lacking in that. Last edited by Fission; 08-27-2014 at 04:56 PM.. |

Re: Step my new song?
longass intro with literally no steppable sounds
generic samples and low rhythmic variety If you're trying to intentionally make steppable music, really try your best to cut down on the repetition. You'll notice BMS of Fighters tracks, a very popular source for steppable songs in FFR, often repeat phrases only 2 times instead of the standard 4, and usually not 8 like is popular in pop and dance tracks (as you've mostly done here). This makes for a shorter song, usually about 2:00-2:30, which typically preferred to 3:30+, and more variety, which is always good. Also soloing tends to be very steppable as it usually makes an obvious setting point for the difficulty of the file and is nessecarily not repetitive. Might as well mention that atmospheric background synths are not steppable (far too ambiguous attack decay pattern to be a steppable sound) The crunchier your samples are the easier they are to accurately step, but of course don't overdo it
