DukAmok Originals problem
Some of the originals that I d/l'd from Duk's collection on bemanistyle are really...I guess you could say choppy.
in specific the files that don't work are: Stratofortress v2 Brace Yourself v2 and Bring me to life The glitching is kind of like lag, but it's even there in the music demo thing when you're scrolling over the song in the menu. It makes the arrows appear to be boosting so fast and then slowing once they reach the "step zone"...but it's not that simple, the music is also choppy, and the steps race up with it. I've tried checking the mp3 and wordpad files...and they appear to be normal. I played it withoud any modifiers...no difference. I've even tried to re-download the files, and that didn't even help. Does anyone know why I'm having this problem, or if nobody has any idea what's going on...where I can get the first two of those stepfiles? |

lol, sorry man...that didn't work either.
It was the exact same even on the lowest possible resolution. There must be something wrong internally in the file... |

Er, no, which version of SM is it. RC2 or 3. (probably 2 if you didn't update recently)

I know exactly what you're talking about, I had that problem with several other files of his like Die MFer Die, Beyond Abilities and K8107. Unfortunately, I don't know what the problem was. I was having the same issue with other files as well, not just Duk's.
When it happened, I reinstalled and it fixed, haven't had it since. Out of curiosity, are you using the Techno Fiend skin? For some reason that problem only happened for me when I was using that theme.

Ok the problem is your sound drivers. You probably have the buggy AC'97 ones and that is why it is glitching. I would recommend installing the new Stepmania that came out a few days ago because I think it fixed that problem or just update your sound drivers.

Ack...nope, I have the current stepmania (got it yesterday), and I tried the stepfiles, and they still don't work
You can add Duk's REBIRTH to that list aswell. |

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card as well. StepMania depends on your sound card drivers not only for audio output but also for song syncing.
None of my systems have had any problem with the files that you mentioned, and they're all over the radar (P4 with a SBLive, Compaq Presario 2140US laptop with an Conexant AMC Audio chipset, and whatever Apple put in their QuickSilver PowerMac G4s). |
