Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
well it makes sense, a lot of pop music or pop rock dont really have complex guitar work so shit like skrillex will be on the lower end of the difficulty spectrum

Guitar Hero's guitars are extremely durable. I've had my guitar for 6 years now, and the only issue I've ever had with it was caused by me. Mad Catz however can't make Guitars for Rock Band to save their life so those are pretty poo-poo. |

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
@Deadlyx39:I had the official GH2 red sg and GH3 black les paul. Both started to give me random double strums and small circuitry failures (randomly not registering frets for a little while and dropping holds because of that) in around 3~4 years of somewhat regular use and no major mistreatment.
It's not terrible but I wouldn't call that very durable. |

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
RB2 Sunburst Stratocaster Master Race (It wants to autocorrect that to Toastmaster. ha)
Still waiting to see what Rockband is going to offer that's new, I like the backwards compatibility, I'm not sure I want a 34th guitar for another GH game. Though the layered button layout is somewhat interesting... Still rather play Rocksmith. Last edited by omega_grunt666; 04-19-2015 at 09:54 PM.. |

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
As long as I can use the xplorer GH 2 guitar I'm fine, unless you were really tall or had gihugic hands, the xplorer was pretty much the best guitar you could use since it had the most durable strum bar, and a shorter neck that made tapping easier. Also I think RB4 was confirmed before the new GH wasn't it?

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
GH controllers seem to be hit and miss with durability. Most of the SG's ended up with something broken, I never had one..my white GH2 wireless thing and my red/black explorer still work fine, GH3 stuff had some minor strumbar issues but nothing major. On the other hand everything from GHWT(drums/guitar) has broken on me.

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
Hey should I make a thread for anyone that wants to play Rock Band or Guitar Hero together? I was thinking of that for people like myself that would like to do a Rock Band or Guitar Hero session with FFR players.

Rock Band 4 is confirmed to have backwards compatibility with peripherals. Guitar Hero does not.

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
hi can i just say
I really like the design for the new Guitar Hero guitar controller. 3x2 frets instead of 5x1. It looks like complication of finger shapes is going to be going up, while the ridiculous stretches are going to either go down or stay the same. Cool. No more trouble hitting the first and fifth frets now, instead the trouble will come from hitting, say, 1A, 2B, and 3A at the same time. Even if the width of the total "fret board" is the same, having 3 keys instead of 5 would make each button a little wider within the same space, and thus making them easier to hit at least with regards to their lateral position. Am I making any sense? I would rather games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero also support real instruments somehow (shame we can't just have Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and RockSmith melded together into a single platform), but this is a step in the right direction I think, at least as far as guitar "simulators" go. The only problem is compatibility with past charts and cross-compatibility. I know Rock Band is going to be compatible with past DLC, but Guitar Hero ain't gonna have that "problem", eh? And this Guitar Hero controller is going to have at least 6 buttons, yeah? And they're set up in a different way than ever before in this or Rock Band? Almost reminds me of Guitar Freak's 3 fret buttons, except better. Will we be able to use the Guitar Hero controller on Rock Band? Because we won't be able to play Guitar Hero with Rock Band gear anymore (although Guitar Freaks might be better simulated now? lol). I wonder, was that their goal in making that change? To make Rock Band hardware incompatible with Guitar Hero, but ensure Guitar Hero hardware still works with Rock Band? If the hardware is good, compatible with Rock Band, and mapping the 5 keys to those 6 buttons feels good, I'm willing to move over to Guitar Hero hardware, at least for the guitars. The charts for 5 keys might end up feeling really weird mapped to those 3x2 buttons instead of 5x1 though. Here's hoping. Quote:

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
I think 4x2 would've been a nicer alternative. With 3 it kinda leaves your pinky just uselessly there if you're not making some sort of actual chord configuration that would involve 4 fingers.
When I first took up guitar I had a teacher tell me "Get used to using your pinky otherwise it'll just end up in the way." and I feel like that is going to happen here. I'm glad they are redesigning it, we all know they could've easily spat out another identical controller (and I'm glad the horrible touch-slider thing is gone), but I feel this is an asinine direction to take it personally.

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
Well Rock Band 3 did have the Guitar and Bass Pro modes where you could get a real guitar peripheral to play guitar on Rock Band 3, but I barely see anyone using it and it doesn't look like it was very popular.

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
It was total ass, the strumming was soo awkward with the cheap feeling plastic "strings". Even the first rocksmith was 100x better and its tracking was pretty off compared to 2014. Really liked the keyboard though.

There is a hack to get around this so that any guitar with midi pickups can work, but why didn't Harmonix make this work easily right out of the box? Their argument was that the special midi controllers sent information for which frets are pressed down even when nothing is strummed, but who cares about that? I'd rather be able to use a cheap guitar from a local pawnshop to play this game than be forced to use a crappy expensive special controller... just so the game will know when I touch a fret without strumming anything. Look at RockSmith's success though. That's what I want from Rock Band. It's possible to create a game that uses a real guitar and is successful.

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
so guitar hero live is basically a mobile game except $60 and released on console
rb4 is more hype but apparently the devs got caught boosting it on amazon

Re: There WILL BE a new Guitar Hero and Rock Band this year
I actually got Rock Band 4 earlier this week and I love it. Only problem with RB4 is that it doesn't support online play as of right now, but it seems if the game sells well then it will probably be added on later.
