Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
Wanna know what the root of the problem is?
Twg is old, and we never take a break from it. Because of that we take twg for granted, get bored of it and eventually become inactive. All of the vets, myself included, don't play with the same gusto we once did. Frankly with all the rampant inactivity I've lost interest. Solve the inactivity you solve the poor games. I personally took a break from it so that i'll be interested in the next game. I'm not dead, for god sakes. Just because someone takes a break doesn't mean they're dead, gosh.

As for advertising, the absolute best way to get the message out would be an announcement on the front of the homepage. Lots of people read it everyday. Dunno if an announcement like that is possible to achieve, but it would get TWG noticed by a large section of the FFR community. |

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
Alright I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, but think of it this way.
We get the word across to the higher ups like Tass or Chardish or whoever, and they make a post on the front page or a forum announcement. For the sake of argument, TONS of people start signing up for games. Now what happens? You tell me. I think promoting the game is a great idea, but I think we need to be selective. I do NOT think getting an administrator or forum mod to post a front page story or forum announcement is the right way to go. I'm thinking maybe a thread in Chit Chat at the most (was originally against this), and have a handful of people, maybe game regulars or council members, to watch the thread constantly and answer any questions people would have about the game. Oh, and don't just post a bunch of links and **** because I know that's what you'll probably do. Actually take some time and thoroughly explain the game concepts. TWG can obviously be a very 'in-depth' game, but you don't want to overwhelm anyone who is interested. Alright, now that we have a selective recruitment drive in the works, it is time to start getting new players together on AIM, make a chat room or something, and explain the game concepts to them. "What's a safety and how does it work?" What is a phantom and is it bad?" "How long are the phases?" Education is key... |

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
The reason this game ia advertised in CT ia to attract intelligent players to the game. A post on the main page will certainly attract people, but most of them wont be TWG material.
We will get a huge influx of new players who won't know how to play the game and subsequently won't see it through. What we need to do is cultivate the skills of the active generation we have in jtwg.

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
I think if we have jTWG's set up in which ONLY noobs are allowed to participate in, the hosts of the games can weed out the bad ones (or keep them there a little bit longer) and promote the good ones. There isn't a problem with having multiple jTWG's going on, plus a TWG for the vets, is there? I don't see one.
The best way to learn how to play TWG is by playing TWG. It's that simple. |

On the recruitment issue: I might have gotten a bit too excited. I agree that a front page announcement wouldn't be the best way to go about things. If there's one place to go for TWG players, it's CT.

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
i think devonin's idea with the unchangeable vote is a great idea. it should definitely be tried in atleast one game

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
I agree. That idea plus a strict phantom limit (i.e, the one gamer has now: 2 phantoms=game ban) would definitely help raise activity.

No. I won't post in the thread itself, but you cannot change the rules in the middle of the game. Ask the players themselves if they want and take a vote. But, they voted for one game, not the one it's becoming.

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
I'd think it's a common courtesy to not switch things in the middle of the game. It leads to confusion and players going "what the ****?".
That said, I'm all for it. |

Oh, I'm all for it too. I think it's a great idea. I'm just saying you don't switch rules up in the middle. Like Temote said, it's just common courtesy.

Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.
Hell yeah! Let's just start banning everyone for bull**** reasons! Because, you know, now we won't have any players at all. Oh the irony.
