Look at this horrible, horrible monstrosity. This is why I will never listen to Metallica. This is a master from their upcoming (or newest, dunno if it's out yet) album.

Now weep, my fellow producers, weep. Who would do such a horrible thing?

And yes, this is music production related and if you don't know why you shouldn't be in this forum.

Apparently the Guitar Hero versions actually are balanced properly but they amped everything on the album for whatever reason.

Good thing I don't listen to bands that have studio mastering like this. You can thank mainstream music for thinking louder is better when in fact it actually makes the audio quality ****.

Well as far as mixes go as long as it's not peaking it's not going to change the quality of the song, it's just going to make it obnoxiously loud.

But the fact that everything has to be obnoxiously loud is so unbelievably annoying, and depressing that this is what the job of a studio engineer ends up being that it makes me scared of the music of the future.
