This makes zero difference. Being in a caloric deficit regardless of your macronutrient consumption will result in weight loss. The answer most common for people gaining weight after keto is that they weren't tracking calories to begin with (which should be done regardless). High protein diets usually result in higher satiation. Carbohydrate dense foods (most, at least) typically won't satiate you as much as protein dense foods. Carbohydrates and protein share the same caloric value per gram (4 calories per gram). You can see how this would cause problems when you substitute more protein for more carbohydrates.

Keto works on its own because it's easy for people to do without worrying much about excessive consumption.

Have you guys came up with any delicious keto recipes yet? My biggest issue was bread (not counting beer hah) The marital unit found this recipe and it made life so much better.

I had like a cheat week and at least 2 cheat days since the beginning of December. All I can say is one cheat day doesn't do shit, but that cheat week fucked up my new found abs and I went right back to being unsexy.

This is one of the diets where you are not allowed to cheat ever. You are either on ketosis or you aren't.

I manage that by accidentally gorging on pasta and lasagna in my dreams

(Sometimes I do wonder, if this was a good decision. I could just as well be a happy diabetic guy)

So I wanted to test my limits and see how much carb I can take before getting thrown out of ketosis

Took four breaded chicken wings, a spoonful of rice, and a spoonful of cake. That's gotta be 50-60g of carb but somehow I'm still in it.

So my weight and body composition is normal, now I want to be strong. Some say carb intake is inevitable if I want to gain muscles and strength. That kinda conflicts with my current diet.

Carb intake is incredibly important for keeping your energy levels in tact. Not sure why you're not just counting macros and eating whatever the hell you want. Flexible dieting just makes much more sense.

I used to eat whatever the hell I want in the past and that resulted in a bloated hamplanet of a body (vastly exaggerated but you get the idea) which made me start this whole journey in the first place

I'm doing my own research and my conclusion is carb does help a great deal but it's certainly doable without as well

I prefer IIFYM in general because I can eat what I want and still lose weight.

However, if keto works for you, then it works for you -- I just think it's important to keep in mind that there's nothing "special" about any particular diet. They're all just different ways of establishing a caloric deficit, which is the only thing that matters with respect to losing weight.

But at the end of the day, all of this is just advice...

I guess what Chris is getting at is that your macronutrient intake and total caloric intake are what determine your body composition. The specifics of what you eat don't really matter.

You were a hamplanet in the past because your caloric intake was too high. As long as you don't greatly exceed your TDEE you won't get fat, regardless of what you eat.

There's an interesting documentary on youtube you should check out where a science teacher eats only McDonalds and loses tons of weight, improves his BP, cholesterol and triglycerides.

All he did was have his students create a balanced macronutrient meal plan for him from the McDonalds website, using all of the garbage on the menu.

Honestly, it's true. What you eat does NOT matter. There is really no such thing as a bad food and a good food. It all comes down to what your nutrient intake balances out to at the end of the day. This should honestly be fairly obvious to anyone scientifically minded. Foods don't have magic properties and your body has no way of knowing what you ate other than what it extracts from the collection of chemicals it breaks down into.

I'm currently trying to transition out of keto without losing the abs I got in the process (I never intended to be a lifer). The water weight is the biggest problem. Help?

I usually follow my macro of 20g carb : 120g protein : 100g fat

Restrict carb for less than 20g if possible, strive to hit 120g protein (no more, no less), and fat can be flexible depending on how hungry I feel.

As long as I follow it, I really don't care about what I eat. I could go to KFC and still feel completely fine (e.g. a double down is 16g carb, so I simply gotta watch myself for the remaining of the day) But obviously I can't munch scoops of M&Ms.

@Reach yes I think you are talking about Fat Head. I did watch it and it was one of the very important motivations for me to start off.

Before starting working out I used to eat tons of sugar, rice, and noodles. Calorie intake wise it was only slightly higher than it is right now. Also I had a mild food addiction problem which I do not have anymore after mostly getting rid of carbs. I don't think keto is the only way to get a fit body, but I gotta say it's really much easier than some other methods that actually take stupid amount of self control.
