Television shows are solely on television. Movies are solely in theaters / on DVDs. Etc.

No one agrees with you, sparklers shouldn't be banned. And how do these things happen all the time? It's the first time I've heard of this specific case. If we were to ban everything based on one stupidity, everything in the world would be banned.

Especially drugs. The FDA keeps on banning all the effective drugs. Good allergy medicine is hard to find and few are rarely effective. However, about two years ago, I found a really good allergy medicine, but because one person decided to overdose it and die, it was banned. I mean, one person decided to be stupid and killed himself and as such, the drug that helped many others must be banned. Seriously, what is up with that? There are other harmful drugs and foods out there that should be banned.

Anyway, to anyone who's saying "it's the parents' responsibility": it likely wasn't their responsibility. Nobody is going to advocate a parent's watching over his or her child 24/7. That's being ridiculously overprotective, and you'd complain if you heard about someone doing that. Kids are curious and kids are stupid; they will do stupid things that will hurt themselves or others and it's not always the parents' fault. They can say "don't do dangerous things with fireworks" all they want, but that's not going to stop kids from doing dangerous things.

Here, during one of those instances where the parent wasn't giving close, scrutinous supervision to the child (this still could have happened in front of his or her eyes), an incident happened. Not the parents' fault. I mean, there certainly are instances where it could be, such as if the parents were watching this and condoned the action, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here.

The same goes with being just as quick to blame parents for rearing kids who go on violent shooting sprees and blame it on video games as the people who blame it on video games. What if the parents did everything they possibly could have to prevent it and the kid was just too messed up to be good?

The fact is that the stupid child/children are at fault here. Children get hurt all the time, and there's not always anyone around to blame. Gonna sue God for making a tree so tall that the child, who was expressly told to either be careful or to not climb the tree, fell out and broke his arm? Please.

Sparklers don't need to be banned and the parents don't need to be made to look like dolts who can't keep their child from getting herself killed.

Kids to stupid **** all the time and get hurt from it. We're not going to blame them because they're kids and don't know any better, so the parents just need to suck it up and pay for the hospital bills, since nobody else is actually to blame.

Why do you assume anyone would just be like 'rofl hay put that SpArKlEr on my foot lol' ?

I would imagine the scenario would be more like someone dropped it and didn't notice until it burned through her shoe. Totally plausible, as sometimes people like to hold like 10 of them and swing them all around.
