Having relative/perfect pitch is great, especially if you are really inspired by music. Here is an example of what you could do with this ability (:

got 10/10 and it took me around a minute or two (only one of them I had to play a second time because I was unsure)
anyways I teach piano and I've memorized middle C so I just went from there - was able to determine notes by taking perfect fifth's, arpeggios of C major and chromatic scale

I just saw something like that on hero's KgZ. I'm sure it's not the same at all, but has the general sense that you are saying. Would be cool to experience that once.

I associate notes/chords with emotions. Cmaj = jubilant. Bbm = depressing. Sometimes it varies since the rhythm and genre of the song can have different effects on how I hear the note but the majority of the time I either paint pictures in my head, recall memories, or feel emotions to help me recognize the note instantaneously.

something like this: http://www.biteyourownelbow.com/keychar.htm

This is exactly how I picture each note/major key/minor key, or at least close enough. This is just a brief explanation and it's a lot to read so you can choose to read or skim through it or just ignore it.

C = "standard note". I think of it as the "most basic" since this is typically the first scale you learn on piano.
Maj - reminds me of children's music. ("Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is typically in this key")
Min - I listen to a lot of System of a Down and for those who are on the same boat as me can immediately tell that a LOT of their old songs are usually in this key, so it clicks quickly in my head.

C# = Hearing this sends a shock in my head like lightning.
Maj - Christmas carolers is immediately what I think of.
Min - Same as major but in a gloomy tone. S.O.A.D.'s later songs (starting with the Mesmerize album) are in this key.

D = This note is almost like C where it sticks out to me, though a bit more since it is an open string on the violin, which I played since I was 8. I don't feel much out of this.
Maj - About as basic as C maj, so that reminds me of children's songs as well ("it is a mystery" is in this key ).
Min - Remember "O Fortuna"? That song that's in a lot of trailers and commercials? D min is one of my favorite keys. With that "shocking"
C# I mentioned earlier, since it sticks out on an A7 chord that leads to Dm, it gives me another reason why I love this key.

D# = This note sounds foreign to me when I first hear it, like the odd note out of the bunch.
Maj - Christmas carolers again, but accompanied by other musical instruments. (The guitar solo and part before it in the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" is in this key).
Min - Yngwie Malmsteen. Also "Welcome Home" is in this key. I can picture a pipe organ in a very dark and abandoned church. Dark and classical.

E = I heard this for many years because it's the highest string on the violin. It's a piercing note, especially since I hear it a lot on violin played in different octaves.
Maj - Snow White. To me this is the epitome of euphoric and sweet sounding music.
Min - Same case with Dm, though for Em instead of it being A7 it would be B7. F# sticks out to me as much as C#. A good minor key too. ("Thru Our Scars", anyone?)

F = Just the letter F has stuck out to me because of school and eventually I got used to seeing that on my grades, heh....so I recognize it immediately (with a slight twitch).
Maj - I've played numerous pieces in my orchestra class in this key. What I think of is a harpsichord and string orchestra, music from the Renaissance era.
Min - This is a good minor key to transition to in my opinion. Not the V but the IV. Bbm is my top favorite key and a IV is often heard in songs that are in Fm.

F# = This note just punches me in the face and I can picture a trumpet blasting this note in particular. Same as F but with more "emphasis".
Maj - Black Key Etude. If you play the black keys on the piano, then you are playing a F# pentatonic scale. As far as how I feel with this key, this goes hand in hand with C# maj to me.
Min - Oh, this is a very dark but beautiful minor key. I absolutely love it. Any song that sneaks this key in a section would send chills down my spine.

G = I think of this as the "low note" mainly because this is the lowest string on the violin (notice already how I relate mostly to piano and violin. I guess it's something that was developed in my single digit years.)
Maj - Eine Klein Nachtmusik. This key is almost like the general and basic key for string instruments, but mostly because I immediately think of this song when I hear this key.
Min - I feel almost the same about this as F#min but not as intense. However, I get a kick out of listening to the arpeggio (G, Bb, D, G) because it includes the "low note", the "dark note", and the "neutral" note respectively, so this arpeggio has a variation of different moods for me.

G# = It's about as intense as F#, but instead of a trumpet, it's a trombone.
Maj - I watched Cinderella a fair amount of times, enough to know as a child that the VERY last song played in the movie had a very blasting note right before the movie fades to black screen, and it wasn't until later that I realized it was in this key.
Min - It has that same effect as major, but in a more darker tone, probably because on the violin G# is the lowest note on the G string that you can play with one finger on the fingerboard. I think of the intro of "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" and that song has been stuck in my head for weeks now.

A = Another open string on the violin, so this sticks out to me as much as G and E do.
Maj - I feel the same about this as I do with Gmaj. I picture a cat. Don't ask why.
Min - Relative minor to Cmaj. I think of Tim Burton movies. At first I didn't know why up until I heard the Beetlejuice theme song again. It's in that key, and a very dark but genius song too in my opinion.

A# = I just call this Bb since A# sounds weird to me, but I'm writing these all as sharps since I'm going up these notes chromatically and it's best to use sharps. It has the same effect as hearing the note G itself, being the "low note", especially since for brass instruments (I think...) it's their tuning note in some cases and it's a very refreshing note for me to hear.
Maj - Almost like Cmaj where it sounds jubilant and happy and uplifting, but with better "sound" and a better emotional effect.
Min - Don't get me started on this. This key is heard at least once in most if not every song on the soundtrack of The Nightmare Before Christmas, which is my favorite movie of all time. The way this key is used in that movie's songs is extremely dark and it left that mark of "halloween" on that key for me permanently.

B = Almost like Bb but actually more intense. The note ITSELF has permanently make me think of horror movies ever since I watched one scene from The Poughkeepsie Tapes (if you've seen it then you probably know which one I'm talking about). As the victim is yelling and panicking and the killer is getting near her, the creepy music is actually a trombone (or tuba, or any other bass brass instrument I guess) that plays a sustained B. This is also heard in disturbing scenes in the beginning of Full Metal Jacket.
Maj - It's completely the opposite when I hear the major key. I can picture a person playing the harp and a beautiful scenery in the background.
Min - "Abyssal" is in this key. It gives that dark B note tone a full body. Not sure how else to explain it.

I got a 9/10, thought an A# was A. figures

EDIT: and I used the 'ascend C major' trick

Default Re: perfect/absolute pitch

"You scored 0/10."

I have excellent relative pitch if I hear a note and also know which note that is. I can't, however, identify a random note by just hearing it, which is why I basically took my best guess at the first note in the test (and my guess was wrong) and answered everything else relative to my initial guess, resulting in 0/10.

I guess my brain just doesn't process notes correctly (like if you asked me to sing a song, I would sing it correctly, just probably in the wrong key). Same goes for my piano playing. I can read sheet music at like a 2nd year piano student's level, so I play most of my music by ear. Very rarely do I play it in the correct key though. This is kind of good for me since I'm able to easily transpose pieces. I also have very good 'musical memory' if you will and can easily memorize every last note in some lengthy guitar solo or something after only listening to it a couple times.

In short, my pitch detection is shit, but I'm certainly not tone deaf lol.

EDIT: took the test after listening to 1 note from the sample thing and got 8/10. Quite the improvement lol
