Quick question
Can anyone find a link for me about the laws pertaining to kicking a minor of the age of 16 out of the house or keeping them from entering the house? I've tried googling it, but I can't find anything about it. I live in Illinois.

I tried also, and I didn't get anything.

Re: Quick question
LOL! Emancipation would be the act of me legally being freed and able to move where I want when I want etc. etc. it's not technically kicking me out, cause it would have to be agreed upon by my mom and me unless the living conditions here were unstable
EDIT: Yea I already looked at that. Emancipation and being kicked out are 2 completely different things unfortunately lol Last edited by Wlfwnd91; 04-12-2007 at 02:00 PM.. |

Re: Quick question
I know that, but I was hoping they might slip something worth noting for your situation in there.

Re: Quick question
A little context would be nice here.
Are you being forcibly removed from your home? Do you wish to be removed from your home? Do you have a sibling who is creating trouble for you at home? |

Re: Quick question
I'm not being forcibly removed from my home, but I'd like to go get a job since I'm kinda 16 without a car or a license or anything and I'd sorta like one, but my mom flips every time I try and leave. So I'm basically wondering if I leave if she's forced to let me return or if she can keep me locked out of the house. I'm trying to get a job so I can start supporting myself independently so that I can be removed from my home because my mom's on-again-off-again boyfriend of a year and a half drinks like a fish and does lord knows what drugs, and it sincerely scares the crap out of me that he's going to be living here. My brother doesn't cause me any problems. It's just my mom and her boyfriend. And I think my mom would start hitting me if she didn't know that if she did I'd shove her head through a wall, so I'm honestly afraid to stay in this house.

Re: Quick question
I can't find anything on disowning a minor, but I'm almost positive that it would fall under Child Neglect (though i'm probably wrong >_>). Click here for more info. Id've read it for you, but I'm not supposed to be online right now XD.

Re: Quick question
Join the national guard. you can join when you're 16 or 17, can't remember, but once you do you're legally emancipated.
