FFR Token Suggestions: Why are these not being used?
So, I've learned something. Even the most basic engine has modifiers. Speed, scroll, effects, ect, and one thing sort of struck me funny. Why are these features in there when they're largely ignored?
In short, we have modifications. And a lot. Especially engine specific ones. Why are these not used as skill tokens? You want more than simple AAAs? Here we go. Simply to prove a point, I've layed a few challenges where I'd like to see replays. FC Bomb the base with Plus scroll. FC Autumn Insomnia Session with Dizzy on. Lastly, Pass ABCDEath with the letters note skin. Thoughts? |

Re: FFR Token Suggestions: Why are these not being used?
Because they hold more individual value than a simple AAA. Lets be real, one AAA these days is less than a pixel on the song list. It's more fun to pursue a badge. The effort is at least visible with some sort of reward. It's why I fell in love with FFR for the most part, and it's how I got my highest scores.
Just going through the list of FCs and AAAs is flat out dull, and it takes like, 20 of them to become noticeably different. Someone said in my other thread that there need to be more ideas for tokens to just have them be valid, and not simply "AAA X song." It's my suggestion is all. As for Renegade Lucien, no, they've existed up to the most basic one. Dizzy is common between all engines. And this also doesn't stop speed modifications, which are also across all of them. Tokens allows you to demonstrate you have the capability of fulfilling the requirement to unlock the chart given from the Token, while AAA displays you have the skill and mastery to not get any other accuracy besides Amazing/Perfect. You are right though, it is more fun to pursue a token (not badge), but that is because their requirement might be far easier than an AAA you are trying to get. It offers you going out of your comfort zone rather than building that zone up and achieving mastery (which in the end is a long time goal of most player; getting skill). If Tokens were to contain using mods as requirements, ultimately there would have to be one engine that runs across all platforms and computer builds because it's a hassle, and out of experience I know on an older mac that the Velocity Engine completely does not work. The Tokens are receiving a overhaul, and it actually does looks a lot better than the current ones and using mods for requirements imo.

Incoporating mods as skill token requirements might be a good idea, but the others bring up a good point about platform and engine difference issues. I think you'll be interested in our overhaul to normal tokens going live later this month (or perhaps earlier next month), Xeno. There're also quite a bit of skill tokens you haven't earned yet, how about it?

Re: FFR Token Suggestions: Why are these not being used?
The reason we don't have them is probably because the mods themselves didn't exist until R^3, and there haven't been many tokens since. It's also possible that the engine itself doesn't support it yet, but a simple flag could fix that (as far as I know...if I'm wrong here let me know.)
Also some people DON'T want more than simple AAA's.

Not all of them have. Some, but not all. There are many that are exclusive to R^3.
And almost no one would go for a token that forces you to play on a certain speedmod.
