Re: Paper Mario
Haha, yeah. The only problem is that a lot of the backgrounds didn't feel too much like paper. Especially in the Cyber Space area. That was full on digital art lol
I'm pretty sure as you move forward from chapter 1 to chapter 8 the backgrounds get less and less like paper. |

Re: Paper Mario
Yea Chapter 5 I think that was? I hated that maze...I loved the random chocolate store though, and finding toilet paper lol. But the portals always confused me...=/ I don't think its really possible to draw space as paper but then again I'm not an artist lol

Re: Paper Mario
they could've probably pulled some sort of watercolor effect and then plastered it over a canvas texture.. though that might look like shit, so whatever. I still love the stage. It was so creative at times.

Re: Paper Mario
Maybe, or drew like Paper stars, cut and paste it kinda thing. Have some excess white showing around the stars, maybe strings dangling down. But that might take away the feel of being in space. Also look terrible...
Speaking of background drawings. Count Blecks Castle = full of win. Made Bowser's Castle's graphics and overall look like garbage lol

Re: Paper Mario
oh god, Count's castle.. Well, I loved it and hated it. I hated it because of the many clever tricks they pulled in it, and I also love it for the same reason. Especially the last rooms, those were insane. They really made good use of the 3D and 3D perception there.

Re: Paper Mario
Very true. I like the contrast between black and white, and the flares emitting from the lamps. The purple sky I guess was because of the void but I never understood exactly where his castle resides. Because if it was the void, how is it not swallowed up? Doesn't make sense. Maybe not thought of? Or other..things I won't get into =O. But anyways graphics wise it just won

Re: Paper Mario
I played TTYD and Super Paper Mario, both were pretty great. My brother ended up beating TTYD 10 times I think, he was pretty addicted to it for a while :P

Re: Paper Mario
I know a lot of people disliked Super Paper Mario but I thought it was fantastic. Chapter 7 ... the samurai village ... such a scary chapter.
Well thanks to this thread I'm replaying the entire series. Watt, Vivian, and Tippi. <3

Re: Paper Mario
Let me summarize each Paper Mario game so you can be the best Mario evar.
Paper Mario - Defense/Power Badges with Spike badge and maybe a few P-Up/D-Down. Your Mario is now god. Paper Mario: TTYD - STEP 1 - Trade your stats so you'll always be 5 HP STEP 2 - Equip as many badges that give you extra attack power when in Danger/Peril STEP 3 - One shot everything in your path. Your Mario is now god. |

Re: Paper Mario
Oh no no I love mini Yoshi too. :') He's just kind of useless in certain fights. :/ Like enemies that have any +defense. I also adored Bow from the first game but same concept as above. :c

So true. I use a different strategy usually. For later though I pretty much just used Bombettes Power Bomb. Had Quick Change incase of flyers for Air Raid, or Fan Smack for the ceiling enemies. Fp the entire time for levels. Hp occasionally but never need more then 20 hp imo. Bp only need 24. 12 for the Power Plus, 4 for quick change, 3 for mega quake, 2 for power bounce, 3 for mega smash. Paper Mario done. Between bombette and mario 15 damage on all for 13 fp. TTYD I just used fiery jinx and mega quake, same strategy. Theres never enough enemies to deplete your fp completely. Also they tend to give you more then enough items. Plus Recover/Sweet Treat or Feast.

Re: Paper Mario
I'm thinking of buying a 3DS solely for the purpose of getting the new Paper Mario game. TYD is literally among my top 3 favorite games evaaaar.
Another thing I enjoyed doing after so many playthroughs of it is going to the Pit of 100 Trials the moment you can and trying to get through it. You level up nearly every battle and get to reheal, and it becomes pretty difficult at the end.

Re: Paper Mario
Yea very true. Especially if you go in the pit early. I think the earliest you can is once you get the 2nd upgrade for Mario in Hooktails Castle. You can just leave, and head straight for the pit.
I remember doing that once...the exp you can get is insane. And items make it that much easier since your kinda handicapped lol. You should definitely get a 3DS Awesome system, one of my favourites. Plus like you said, Paper Mario on the go. What more can you want? lol

Re: Paper Mario
Yeah, also there's a few other titles I'm really excited to play that have already come out, so I'll definitely be getting one as soon as possible.
I usually wait until after I beat Hooktail, because that Earthquake attack is ridiculously unbelievably crazy helpful when you're in that pit. Either way, always a good time. I actually haven't tried the strategy of doing 5HP and loading up on Mega and Super Rush badges, so that's happening next playthrough
