FFR Awards 2010 - Voting

After a bit of consideration and discussion with a few others on the staff, I decided that I will go ahead and host an official FFR forum awards for 2010.

Here are the people who will be tallying up the votes.

I forgot to mention this initially to those who are tallying. Tallies will not be made public until after voting has closed. You'll keep track of them on your own in private and I'll contact you via PM for your results.


The following are the rules of voting and the general process of events. A lot is basically the same as the rules in the previous forum awards thread.

I - Your account must be at least three months old to be eligible for voting. You must have at least 100 posts if you want to place a vote for anything within the "Forum" and "Threads" categories.

II – In order for your votes to count, you must use the template provided at the bottom of this post. Just quote it and fill in your choices for each category. Feel free to leave a note regarding your vote if you want to say something about it. Just keep it concise and make the name you are voting for distinguishable.

III – You may only vote for one person in each of the categories. You must use the person's FFR username as your vote. If you vote for more than one person for a category, none of your votes in that category will be counted. You cannot vote for yourself in any category. You don't have to fill out every category if you don't want to.

IV – Once you have voted, you only have two hours to make any edits if needed. If any posts are edited after two hours has passed from when the post was initially made, they will be deemed null and void. Think about who you're voting for before you vote. You have plenty of time.

V - You can only post votes in this thread. Any other posts will be deleted and you may lose your privilege to vote. If you have any questions or comments, send me a message outside of this thread.

VI - If you try to use an alt to put in extra votes, you will be banned and any votes made by you on any of your accounts will not be counted.

VII – Voting ends 11:59 PM server time on February 28th, 2011.

VIII - After February 28th, the votes will be tallied and the results will be posted in a separate thread.

I want to make some side notes before I move on to the vote categories.

-Besides removing the categories that obviously don't apply anymore, (FFYA threads) I removed the category for best thread within the TGB forum because of the recent wipe. It'll be back in the next forum awards. Additionally I reorganized a lot of the categories so they fit into a group more appropriately.

-The "Most Missed Staff Member" is a new category this time around to remember those who helped FFR up until it went down in 2009. There's also "Most Inspiring FFR Player" since I know most of us have had someone we've looked up to in that area.

-There's a possibility that this will be the last time there will be negative categories. It's been brought up but a general consensus has not been reached. I'm keeping them this time around partially for tradition's sake and partially so we have at least one more time to have our fun regarding them.

-For the categories involving a thread, please post a link with your vote. It'll make things a lot easier to tally and organize.

-Make sure to double check who the current admins and mods are when placing votes regarding those categories. The list can be found here.

- 1st: bmah - He always seems to get the job done no matter what song you give him, and it's always flowing, or fun. His songs actually have great melodic value too, which is essential in a music game.
- 2nd: Kommisar - great simfiler, but NEED[...] didn't do justice.
-3rd: npv - even with one simfile released this year, Sparkle Downer is pretty great. I cannot complain.

FFR - THE GAME

Best FFR file from 2010:
- 1st: Floating Hour - sounds great, and plays great. Even better, it's actually technical and challenging!
- 2nd: Sparkle Downer - love the chart, but difficulty has a place of its own in rhythm games. As a hard file, it definitely serves a purpose, but it's definitely not something I can see myself playing.
- 3rd: Cette Annee - another song that is really nice and plays out great. However, from a player who likes charts that are difficult, this one doesn't do enough to me. Structure is awesome, though.

Worst FFR file from 2010:
- 1st: Einstein-Rosen Bridge - I just don't get it. Structure is all over the place, everything is forced, and some parts are just flat out unfun. Can't stand to play the song.
- 2nd: 11ELEVEN - this feels like a shorter version of the boring parts of STRAWBERRY SWEETZ (sorry Silvuh <3), and the entry into that roll is just hideous. D:
- 3rd: RAN - PLAY NOW AND YOU TOO CAN HAVE FRAMER SYNDROME (as an SM chart, I imagine this would be fine.)

FFR Gamewhore:
- 1st: rushyrulz - holy overall rank jump...
- 2nd: One Winged Angel - while I'm not sure how much he's played in the past few months, a lot of people know that he has played a crapton of games just in an effort to try and push out some nasty looking scores.
- 3rd: remedy1502 - same as OWA, and in the same light too, just whoring his face off to improve.

Most Inspiring FFR Player:

Up And Coming FFRer:
- 1st: pmonibuv1 - from D1 to Oni in less than a year? Anyone who doesn't vote for him is oblivious.
- 2nd: igotrhythm - to me, an improvement's strength is best marked as amount in comparison to time. He had been stuck at his level for the longest time, in a plateau, only to make a style switch and see an immediate improvement. Watch out for him, he's going to come up big soon.
- 3rd: psychoangel691 - Back in the 5th official tournament, she was stuck in D2, without a level 6 AAA. Now, she's fairly close to pushing the Oni token herself, sitting on a bunch of FMO and near FMO SDGs (she's even got a Silence AAA hiding from LD's engine). The improvement has been constant.

HALL OF FAME
aperson - he's been busting his balls just to make the site as fast and operational as possible. Granted, all of the administrators do, but when something was wrong, he was on it like flies on a hot pile of steaming waste. To top it all off, he's a very skilled FFR player who actually cares about the integrity of the game, from the stepcharts, to the site, to the players. He deserves it all.
